City recommendation - Vancouver or Toronto

yeah Vancouver might become SF in like 10 years but it's not as bad now. At least your window won't get smashed just parking outside. Lots of business are moving out of SF too, and asian food in SF is trash comparing to Vancouver.

Hi folks, I currently live in San Francisco and am considering moving to Canada and deciding between Vancouver or Toronto. I'm leaning towards Vancouver since based on my understanding Toronto's snow season is much longer. But I don't know about road condition/traffic condition/cop attitude, etc so would like to hear from you locals. Let's only talk about cars here.

Both cities are amazing places. I loved Vancouver when I visited but have never lived there. You're right about winter being shorter there, but it rains a lot.

The great thing about Toronto is that it has almost every kind of city you could want within the GTA. Traffic in Toronto is terrible, but if you're in one of the outlying cities (Burlington, Whitby, etc), the traffic gets a little better and each city had its own charm. Toronto itself is a great city. Busy, but worth it if you find value in its culture.

Ontario winters are unpredictable. I daily drove a Toyota 86 for 5 years and never got stuck in it. I wouldn't want to do that in the Supra (low torque RWD is a little more manageable), but it's not as though you need a truck to get around here between November to February.

There are great tracks outside Toronto and a great car culture in Ontario.

One thing - since you mentioned police - is that there is a law here where your car can be impounded if you are caught stunt driving or driving 40km/h over the speed limit. You can also face jail time and be fined $10,000. I'm not suggesting you would do that, but it's something we have here.

In any case, both cities are fantastic places. If you're willing to move within 2 hours of Toronto, there are many more incredible places, too. That's one of the great things about Southern Ontario - everything is a day trip away.

Ok Toronto was the rudest place I’ve been to in Canada and have been coast to coast.Vancouver I think is nicer but changing fast. Cops are assholes everywhere so that doesn’t matter. Vancouver island is nothing but tree huggin hipsters. So it depends on what you are looking for ,if you like outdoor stuff BC hands down.Cost off living in BC is the highest in Canada .there a reason it stand for Bring Cash.Toronto is next on the list. What is it you’re looking for in city ? Honestly you couldn’t pay me to live in either.I m 1.5 hours outside Vancouver and it getting to crowed out this way also. But I hate big citys and all the bullshit around them all.
