Coding troubles

I have an MHD universal adapter. I’m trying to play with BimmerCode, but having trouble. It takes like 20 tries before it connects. I also listened to some guy on YouTube saying you have more coding options with selecting Z4 but for me the code doesn’t seem to work…it just jacks things up. I want to do a backup and put things back, but I can’t for the life of me figure out how to get BimmerCode to reconnect. In WiFi HMD says “no connection” so I’m assuming it’s that? Anyone else have issues with coding?

I have an MHD adapter (orange colour) and use the Z4 setting in BimmerCode and it works as expected. Three gotchyas that I found that may/may not be affecting you were:

1. My MHD adapter needed an update before it worked. Download the MHD app and if your adapter needs an update the app should prompt you once you have connected to the adapter and opened the app.
2. For some stupid reason BimmerCode seems to consider this adapter "MHD Black" (or something to that extent) despite the adapter being bright fucking orange.
3. Because the MHD adapter uses Wifi, make sure your phone/tablet doesn't autconnect to other nearby networks, including the car's Apple Car Play.

The adapter is fairly quick to load settings and code and generally seems to work well.

I do find BimmerCode itself to be pretty clunky though and while I have "back-ups" I'm not at all convinced they will necessarily work as expected.

Still not working. BimmerCode keeps taking me back to the first screen for the app. It looks like it’s not getting a connection from the adapter, but idk why.

2. Did you put the car into diagnostic mode - three presses of the start button?

I did but I’m not seeing anywhere to potentially update the adapter. It didn’t give me any prompt or anything.

When you opened the MHD app, were you connected to the adapter? I know when I first connected to the adapter and then opened the (latest) MHD app, it automatically prompted me to update - nothing worked properly before I did that.

Maybe your adapter is up to date?

At any rate it sounds like you are exhausting the obvious issues I can think of. Maybe time to try MHD/BimmerTech support and hope they don't just blame each other. ?
