On my way into work I heard a loud bang. Immediately following I noticed a large crack starting to creep across my windshield. I assume a rock hit my windshield. Safelite wants over a $1000 to put a new one in and then calibrate all the tech. Any insight on just having it fixed. They say it’s too big to fix, it’s only 9 inches and they will only fix up to 6 inches. Reason I don’t want to have it fixed is I am afraid the calibration of the tech will be done incorrectly and having a problem with it moving forward. ???

This should be covered by insurance.....assuming you're paying one lol

Mine cracked only 2 months after getting the car. I paid the CAD$200 deductible to get it replaced and it only took a couple hours. The actual cost was something around CAD$1,500.

Apparently these windshields are fragile, read about few other people that already had theirs replaced as well. No issue whatsoever with the calibration, I'm sure these technicians have done it hundreds of times as tons of cars/vans come with cameras nowadays.
