I'm kinda in a weird situation currently, I just recently got my Supra and want to start tossing some performance mods onto the car. Other than a tune, it seems the general consensus is to get a catless DP first but I'm a bit worried about how loud that would make it. Context is I live in a 55+ community and leave for work around 6:30 in the morning so I do not want any 70 y/o Karens getting woken up by my car unintentionally. Does anyone know just how much louder a new DP makes the car, and is it worth considering a catted DP in this scenario?

I have stock exhaust with catless dp, and the catalyst warm up on cold start is pretty loud. This lasts for 30s to one minute, as I recall, and I did feel bad on early days because my neighbor’s bedroom is relatively close. I’ve since put on an MHD+ tune and eliminated catalyst warm up mode so it’s much quieter. Under normal driving, the car is not loud and your 55+ community will not notice or mind at all.

Any surging or bogging on cold start? Am about to delete cold start myself

When the engine is cold, the idle speed bounces around a bit for what I’d literally estimate to be 2-3 seconds. It doesn’t sound like bogging or anything like that, more like the idle is hunting for a couple of seconds before settling in just fine.

Its very thoughtful of you to think of others, i hope santa rewards you for that

However, you have a sports car. Sometimes theyre loud. But its only for 30 seconds a day during start up. You aren't revving it over and over.

If you get a Karen, just be apologetic but also let her know itll happen and you are limited start ups as much as you can
