Pretty average race save for Perez/Alonso and the start drama.

I really REALLY hate the race director though; I do not care about seeing Max cross the line when Alonso and Perez were still battling like that, and it happens in so many races - use picture in picture or something.

Yup agreed. It happened when Stroll passed Hamilton too. Never saw that move. And another one too where I'm like "can we see the actual race!?"

Whatever it was great! Lando attacking Max, EVERYONE attacking Mercedes, lots of passing, (on Mercedes) and Fred with an epic drive.
Russell getting the Bottas treatment even though he was clearly faster at the start of the stint and literally being sacrificed by Mercedes while for months the Mercedes fans accuse RedBull doing that to Checo. Just great poetic justice all around. Checo's P2 is all but secured, and Max breaking Ascari's 70+ year old record.

History in the making.
Hamilton is in the points chase for second place. It is in Mercedes best interest to keep him ahead as much as possible. Unfortunately for George.

None of them care about 2nd place. In the constructors championship it matters, but in the drivers' it doesn't matter if you're 2nd or 20th. The only reason they want that 2nd place is to deny RedBull the clean sweep. But the difference is now 32 points or something, with 2 races to go it's pretty much settled.

I assumed it was a $$ thing when they place. If not then I have no idea why drivers aren't allowed to fight.

You jinxed it, that was a rather boring race. Basically only Alonso and Checo the only action for the last 1/3 of that race.
Who woulda thought! Yeah, my wife wants us watch the actual races/recording on ESPN (Sky) for the remainder of the season. She thinks they are more “exciting” announcers. But I do absolutely love the F1 subscription!!!!! So much fantastic content ?

Lando straight up after the race didn’t have enough media coaching to lie and say - yes I’ll be fighting Red Bull and Max. Instead he said there will only be a fight for 2nd place while Max in there ? I do love his honesty. Truly. But look how they all lie in boxing or MMA. They are taught the promotions side, to Ham(liton) it up a bit more.

No complaints from us. We’re still digging this history making season. Points, most wins, you name it. And guys like Alonzo bringing it every single damn time he gets a chance! George is in the right (the racing commentators claim) but damn he sounds sooooooo whiney. We were actually rooting for Stroll… don’t know how that happened but we did. Happy for Checo not crashing for a change and getting the most out of that RB car. So there was still tons of drama going on for our fancy (still learning my British lingo).

I usually watch the F1 broadcast, I do switch around a lot. and when something happens usually go and watch the onboards to listen. Most times F1 races take me an hour or so longer to watch due to it, but my Sundays are always clear with nothing else to do besides racing all day. Yesterday's race was a snooze fest for me, listening to Max radio, he wasn't even pushing, Lando tried some of his radio was funny, along with Hamilton.

I'm guessing this is how Leclerc and Sainz felt.

Yeah that was exactly it ?

Shame though because they're only 20 points behind Mercedes. They could've really used Leclerc to steal some points and closed the gap, but you know, Ferrari ?

Makes you wonder what Alonzo could do in that Red Bull ?. It’ll never happen but damn that was such a great fight between him and Checo. And kudos to Checo for putting it all together again.

And sounds like Mercedes is truly worried about maintaining 2nd place in the constructors ?

Yeah Mercedes got lucky Leclerc crashed out again.
Honestly Mercedes shouldn't even be 2nd. Ferrari does what Ferrari does, Aston Martin has Lance Stroll, and McLaren was awful at the beginning of the season.
