I came across a different heat shield that I haven't seen mentioned at all on this forum and wanted to see if anyone has any experience with it. On their website they state it will fit 3.0 Supras but do not mention whether it's the 2 or 6 port variation. This heat shield is almost $100 cheaper than Verus's and seems to have a similar effect in regards to IAT's.

From their website:

It’s hot in southern Utah, in our shop M240 we saw IAT’s as high as 140F. Which is why we whipped up a heat shield that is designed to actually deflect heat away from the intake without completely trapping high temps within the turbo.

After we installed the BMR heat shield we saw a significant drop in IAT’s in the same ambient temp of 110F.

After 30 minutes of normal driving we saw a max temp of 120F. Followed by a WOT 2nd gear to the top of 5th gear our peak intake air temp was 127.

This is the link to their website: https://blackmarketrace.com/collections/supra/products/gen-2-b58-turbo-heat-shield

I'm interested to see if anyone is using this and what their thoughts are on it.

You can check your preturbo intake temps on the hidden temp menu on the das unfortunately only in Celsius. I have the semi open Dinan intake and the intake temps shoot up a bit when standing still at a light when the turbo is hot but quickly go down to ambient or just above when moving at speed. There was less fluctuation on the OEM airbox which was better sealed to a snorkel piped to the grill system.

that looks cool but doubt it would make much difference preturbo side and might retain heat in the compressor housing too much raising manifold temps even more.

at the end of the day you want copious amounts of air in the area and putting a metal blanket over the hot part might not be a help.
