Help Please... How do you remove the tailgate interior trim piece?? (For TRD spoiler install)

Step one in installing my TRD rear spoiler and I'm already stuck...

Instructions say to remove the interior trim of the tailgate as per the repair manual. Only problem is I don't have the repair manual. I don't want to start randomly yanking on the trim in hopes that I can get it off.

Anyone have experience ???

As per your suggestion, here is how I removed the interior tailgate trim:

1) Unfasten the wire from the emergency tailgate release by pushing on the tab until it clears the barrel

2) Pry the two covers off the recessed handhold areas. Underneath there are a pair of torx screws. Remove these screws.

3) Working around the trim piece, gently pull straight down to release the plastic clips. There were about 10 of these clips around the perimeter.

Not too difficult... Sorry no pictures.

Can you explain step one? I’m confused on pushing the tab till it clears the barrel. Do I pull the emergency tab all the way?

No. Just unhook it from the holder and let it hang.
