Keep in mind the OEM Super Sports on the Supra are BMW spec so they may be an improved version of Super Sports. I'll be testing on track soon to see if lap times get faster or slower with the 4S tires.

So if you purchase a SS tire from tire rack, it will be different than oem? I had to replace one last summer and am curious now. How do you order bmw spec SS?

Tire rack sells the OEM one as well. It has a star symbol after super sport for BMW spec.

Great so I have one tire that isn't the factory spec. I'm sure that will never cross my mind ugggh
You should go in your email and look at your invoice. You may have bought the BMW version as it is the first one that shows up in the list.

All of the Pilot series are compromises. Very good over all tires. But it is hard to make a tire that does everything well- bad weather, relative quiet, acceleration, some track use, etc

better tires out there for specific tasks

Just did a back to back two day track day on my stock tires then my 4s and ran faster on a hotter track/day on the 4s. Times where almost identical but overall speed was slower on the second hotter day. Granted tires are not the same size 305/30 275/30. This was also my first time on track with this car.

I've used cup 2's on previous car and must say that are superb tyres.
Is anyone running cup 2's on their supra and can comment?
Tia.

A little late to the thread, but just switched new cup 2's after I wore the factory tread off of my ss. Ive got to say the dry handling compared to the ss is amazing. I live in SoCal so getting my tires warm is not that much of an issue. The ride is a fair bit firmer and louder, but the trade off is amazing grip off the line wheelspin is almost non exsistent. only had the chance to take to willow springs once, but lap time decreased about a second and some change. Only negative is tread depth being 7/32 from the factory lol.
