The fun continues today - my codriver Clyde running the wet skidpad and the autocross.

Oh hell YUS! Told the wife about this, following your videos, we’re definitely doing this someday ?

Today's video:

On the road again, a long transit from Nelson Ledges to Road Atlanta. We'll get to the hotel about 1AM tonight. I did manage to edit and publish the video from the car today, so I can just crash tonight.

I was SLOW at Nelson Ledges today - it's a speed maintenance track with lots of high speed turns. I just didn't quite get it right. I'm bummed, as today's run determined our running order for the rest of the week, and I'm near the back of the pack. That means we are among the last to leave the track and head to the next track. Not much I can do about it now...just plan the rest of the event around it.

Road Atlanta was 2 distinct events for me. I was pretty bummed after the morning session, but I did manage to pull it together and improve a bunch in the afternoon. I picked 3 of the biggest errors from the morning, made a plan, and executed. My afternoon time shows it...d@mn satisfying.

Nashville Superspeedway Roval today. I LIKE Nashville - I actually like the tight little infield section, and the facility is awesome. I ended up being faster in the morning, as guess I was a little too agressive in the infield and lost time. That was the first time I really felt the Supra's traction control step in.

That’s it. It’s decided. The wife and I will definitely have to do this in the near future! Nashville looks similar to Homestead and Daytona. So cool ? Great job on your videos.

If anyone is interested, it’s no surprise our Supra is doing so well.

I don't know if Dave Marcus is on here...met him this week - great guy. Also talked with Andrew and Justin - they're from the Toyota factory team - those guys are fast, nice, helpful, and really do a heck of good job representing Toyota.

No video today - just ran out of energy to edit footage. We have another 10+ hr drive tomorrow after Hallett, so I'll try to do both videos during the drive.

Catching up with videos today. The first one is Eagles Canyon, the 2nd is Hallett.

Eagles Canyon was tough for me. My morning session was dry, but I just didn’t mentally prep very well - I did’t know the track well enough to really attack it in the OLOA time trial format.

Hallett was a different story, thankfully. My co-driver Clyde really helped me with my prep, and I was able to be much more aggressive in the morning session. I’m not one to blame poor performance on equipment, but the Supra’s throttle response in the afternoon session was not right - there was a long lag from pressing the throttle and when the car accelerated. This was the first time I’d experienced this in Sport mode. Not sure what’s going on, but hopefully it won’t happen tomorrow at NCM.

I’m uploading stuff from the car, so the Hallett video is taking forever in here on US 60 in the middle of Missouri

So much fun! How many laps do they let you do? Or is it a time limit format at each track? Thanks Tom!

Here's the format:
- 2 sessions (morning and afternoon)
- 1 recon lap as fast or slow as you desire
- Stop before start/finish
- Standing start for first timed lap
- 2 timed flying laps
- Cool down lap
- Your time is cumulative for the 3 laps in the session.

Last video is up - co-driver Clyde running the dry skidpad. We were 1st overall...for about 5 minutes :-D

We got home about 10:30 last night, and I've spent today in a haze of tired, doing low-brainpower tasks. It's a satisfying tired...

The thumbnail for the video is Dave Marcus's Supra. Dave and Mike King managed a 2nd overall finish with a killer 1.18g skidpad performance to lock it down. Dave and Mike were really emotional after the run, as those guys had been killing it all week.

Great job Tom! Thanks again for your post and videos ?? I didn’t know about this and can’t wait to do it in the future! What a great way to sample different tracks and be with like minded car loving people ?

No more "youtube influencer" videos in this thread from me :-D, but I will leave you with some thoughts:
- Running this event in '22 was something I had wanted to do since I was a kid in the '80s, reading the Car & Driver coverage every year. It was truly a dream come true.
- Last year, I had zero expectations on finishing position in class or overall. I just didn't care
- This year, while I knew I didn't have the driver talent to contend for any kind of trophy, I wanted to improve my finishing position. Unfortunately, that didn't happen, and was pretty frustrating.
- The community of people is fantastic. Even the hard-core competitors will help you.
- The Toyota factory team, running a Camry with a LOT of OLOA miles on it, a GR86, and a Supra are fantastic. They talk to everyone, they help everyone, and they genuinely seem happy to be there. They were one of the reasons I bought my car.
- The Supra is a VERY good platform for OLOA. The hatch is big enough to store a lot of stuff, the car rides well/isn't too loud, and it's pretty quick in bone-stock form. The only bummer about it is cost...but that's more of a "me" thing. There were many 6-figure cars there, so it's not all that expensive in context.

If you consider yourself a car-guy/car-gal, you should do this event at least once. It will push you and the car, but it's gratifying to just finish.

One more thing...at the lunch/awards banquet after the skidpad, I sat down at a table with James Clay (Bimmerworld owner, pro driver), and he asked me some questions about the car, as they had talked to all the Supra teams during the week. He's considering if he wants to start working with the G29 Z4/A90-A91 Supra platform. In my opinion, Bimmerworld one of the best BMW shops because they race with what they sell, and James himself is still actively involved with amateur motorsports...not just his pro gigs.

I've said it on here before...I identify as a BMW guy, and Bimmerworld is one of the first places I looked for parts, especially for my E36s. I'd love to have him support this platform - nothing but a positive for this community.

More thread-bumping my own dead threads today. 2 years of OneLaps in the car have taught me a few things about setup, my tolerance for 5K miles of street driving in a week, and my desire to improve the car.

Compromise is the name of the game. Every track day I've done with the car and my OneLap track time makes me go "This thing is too soft...it takes forever to take a set." Then I balance that against a 2 hr brutal pothole-filled section of I-70 going into Indiana that makes me glad I stayed with stock springs and dampers. I do want to make the car better on track, so it's a continuation of the compromise game.

My co-driver's feedback was that the car turns in well, is reasonably balanced for the setup, has pretty good overall mechanical grip, but struggles to put power down early on corner exit. Another observation that we both share was how light the car gets when cresting a high speed hill vs other cars we've both driven. My takeaway is that I'd like a little more rear grip to get on the power earlier and a little more high-speed stability.

Current setup:
- Stock springs/dampers
- Verus camber plates
- AFE Control anti-sway bars, front (29mm) and rear (22mm)
- AFE adjustable end links in the rear, stockers in the front. All are set to the middle hole in the bar.
- 18x10.5 wheels, 15mm spacers, 275/35/18 Bridgestone RE71RS tires (square)
- Alignment - I can't find the sheet, but it's about -2.7 deg in the front, around -1 in the rear, a little toe in
- Cold pressures are F: 29psi/R: 31psi, and I'll adjust depending on conditions
- CSG pads, front and rear. Fluid is SRF

What I'm thinking about:
- Rear sway bar, move to the softest setting
- Adjustable sway bar links in the front (incase I want to tune with the front bar)
- Dive planes/canards (probably Verus, but open to suggestions)
- Rear diffuser (ditto)
- Duckbill rear spoiler (I know it doesn't do anything...but it looks b!tchin)
- Fresh alignment

The only thing that's really not an option is a staggered tire/wheel setup. For OneLap, I want the ability to carry a single spare that I can use on any corner.

So, hive-mind, comments and suggestions are welcome.
