Hello,

Looking for advice from people running the PRW AFS800 or a similar auxiliary fuel setup.

Current setup is a Doc Race PTE 6870NG on a stock motor. Previously I was on the PRW Stage 2.5 LPFP, which worked well and was sufficient for my goals. I moved to an AUX setup to support PI with a return-style feed.

What I didn’t fully account for is how the AFS800 behaves. With the default relay control, it’s essentially on/off. When both pumps are off at idle or cruising, pressure drops to zero and triggers a low pressure fault. The only way around it right now is keeping one pump running, which isn’t ideal long term as it keeps the pump and wiring under continuous load.

I reached out to PRW and they confirmed this behavior is expected. They mentioned there is no check valve in the system to hold pressure and suggested either disabling safeties or running both pumps at low duty using solid state relays. They also offer SSRs separately, but noted that this should address the issue.

For those running a similar setup on a daily or occasional use car:
  • How are you controlling your pumps?
  • Are you running them continuously or staging them?
  • Any issues with wiring or heat over time?
Appreciate any input. Thanks.

We have one car running relays with one pump on continuously, second pump triggered under load and another car running SSRs. SSRs are not as plug and play as anticipated. Otherwise, both setups function and flow as intended.

Thanks for the info. I spoke with PRW and they suggested getting their SSR which is supposedly “PnP” with the provided harness in the kit.

I’ve also been getting recommendations to add a check valve. But speaking to PRW they say the fuel filter already has a built in check valve.

completely confused on what to do. I feel running the pumps even at 20-30% all the time is a route to failure eventually….

They are not truly 1:1 PNP. I will promise you that.
