hey everyone,

I am a new GR supra owner 2021 model In Renaissance red.
I originally bought this car from the dealership with the license plate drilled into the bumper which then I decided to take it to my local paint shop who then pretty much charged me to spot repair the holes then blend paint towards the bottom portion of the bumper, he mentioned he wanted to preserve the OEM paint from the factory so he didnā€™t spray above that license plate bracket area. He essentially fixed the bumper hole area then cleared the entire bumper with oem clear.
Fast forward after the paint job is complete and I am not sure if this was a problem before but it seems like the red supras have an issue with the bumper and hood not matching 100%.
Iā€™ve spent countless times looking through forums and Instagram and it seems like SOME red supras have a nice match and for some reason the 2020-2021 models donā€™t always match. Iā€™ve asked other owners and they also noticed this type of mismatch.

Here are some photos below.

At this point, it seems like under certain lighting the supra front bumper appears to be darker than the hood. I was told the material differences play a big role in this but I am having thoughts now to see if a paint shop can respray it to match 100%. Because the problem is I have PPFā€™d my front hood and fenders already so I donā€™t want to blend.

What are my options here? Would a better paint shop be able to match this 90%?

Here are photos below of my findings from other supras

Unfortunately paint lays differently on plastic as it does on metal.
Iā€™m no expert but a lot of cars/manufacturers have a slight color difference between plastics and metal (depending on color).
I personally think youā€™d be chasing this issue regardless of the paint/ body shop.

good luck in finding a solution

Looks like you are in Markham. You mentioned PPF on hood, after the repaint on the bumper, is there PPF redone on the bumper?

Not an expertā€¦but doesnā€™t the paint go over the same primer regardless of where itā€™s applied? (Ie, paint is contact with primer, not directly with car body)
