I just want to start off by saying, "Thank you Mr. Toyota! This is the reason I will only buy Toyota's moving forward."

Secondly.......I was right again. Lol. When everyone was on the bandwagon of "everything will be EV's in blah blah blah." I knew Toyota was holding back, not because EV's don't work, but because it is damn near impossible to implement EV's as the new standard in automotive transportation in this lifetime.

Anyhow, enjoy folks (btw, im not a fan of CNBC....it was the first link that I quickly copied online):

This is fantastic news! It means, that cars like the Supra will continue several more generations as ICE powered cars.

Is that right? Or is he just saying ICE will continue for under developed countries or poorer countries as the EV infrastructure is not going to exist for a long while if not ever.. :dunno:

I mean I sell engine parts for a living and many folks in Mexico and South America scream ICE! Oh wait, were they screaming about immigrations? o_O

Maybe it was Californians and not folks in Mexico and South America screaming, "why aren't we allowed to charge our EV's between 8am and 5pm!!" I would double check that. Lol.

I read that, but from a global scale I don't think any car manufacture is going to ignore the demand from countries that do not have any serious plan for EV infrastructure in the near future. They will continue to build ICE and these people will continue to buy.. is that what Toyoda meant?

I think the push for EV in the USA and developed countries are going to continue as they were and doubt Supra is on the list to be released again as an ICE-only car? :dunno: I mean if it is, fantastic! I'd want Toyoda to write it out for us.

US isn’t first, second, or even third place in terms of countries who have adopted EV’s and high utilization. Our electrical infrastructure (like many other developed countries) wasn’t designed with cars and trucks as a primary or in some areas even secondary means of transportation. A home with all of it’s utilities pushes the bar in terms of electric use….throw in a 220V charging station at every home…..yikes.

Yeah I know that, but that won’t stop EV from at least trying to take center stage. With all that going on is Toyoda going to do another gen of ICE Supra? :dunno:

It means nothing of the sort, that's just wishful thinking on your part (wishful thinking, I should point out, that I would like to be true).

First, unless BMW wants to extend this partnership, there won't be a 6th gen Supra.

Second, if there was, expect a turbo 4 or hybrid 4 as Toyota is all in on downsizing their engines.

Third, unless all the countries (many US states, Canada, Japan, UK, Germany) currently looking to pass into law the banning of ICE new car sales by 2035 reverse course, manufacturers will continue working towards EV only solutions.

What you're doing by assessing the American electricity grid and its capacity is applying common sense, but none of the countries I mentioned are *governed* by any common fucking sense.

I posted this before - but I always thought of battery powered cars as being another tool in the tool box to meet a use case, but not as a full replacement for the internal combustion engine.
