Infiniti-Q60-Concept-0.jpg

Infiniti has released the first uncensored photo of the Q60 Concept ahead of its debut at the Detroit Auto Show next week. As the name suggests, the study previews the next generation Infiniti Q60 sports coupe, which will feature design cues from the brand’s latest models.

The Q60 Concept’s design details remind of the Q80 Inspiration concept, unveiled at the 2014 Paris Auto Show – especially the low roofline and quilted leather seats. The Q60 Concept also borrows details from other Infiniti models, more specifically the aerodynamic gills behind the front wheel arches, inherited from the Q50 Eau Rouge sports sedan concept.

Infiniti says the Q60 Concept features sharp contours and a hand-crafted interior, with the result being “a no-compromise fusion of looks and speed.” The coupe’s low and wide body promises interesting driving dynamics, as does the car’s muscular appearance. The Q60 Concept rides on custom 21-inch wheels with black spokes in a combination of mattes and chromes inspired by jet turbine blades.

Although this is the only photo released so far, we have to trust Infiniti when it says the car has a high-quality interior featuring “impeccable hand-stitched leather” and a “precise treatment of the carbon fiber accents.” The automaker also says the Q60 Concept is a genuine 2+2 coupe, with rear passengers getting more legroom through the use of sport seats.

No technical details were offered, but we should get those along with more photos as we approach the study’s reveal on January 13 in Detroit. We can only hope the Q60 Concept will not be toned down too much in production form, and we have reason to believe it won’t. Infiniti’s executive design director Alfonso Albaisa said in November that the Q60 COncept is “very, very close to the next Q60.”

That is beautiful! Too bad just a concept. I'm sure the production Q60 will be way watered down. The Q50 isn't much to look at IMO.

New Infiniti Q60 Coupe Concept Detailed in 26 Fresh Photos

A full batch of photos of the Infiniti Q60 Coupe Concept surfaced online giving us a detailed look at the firm's upcoming BMW 4-Series adversary.

Most of what you see here will be present on the production car that will be introduced later in 2015, with a convertible model to likely follow within the next two years.

Infiniti's two-door version of the new Q50 sedan is a slick looking coupe featuring design cues from the Q80 Inspiration study as well as the Q50 Eau Rouge sports saloon concept with swooping lines and a low-slung fascia that's dominated by a large grille.

The heavily sculpted rear section has thin light clusters and some dramatic exhaust pipes, which will probably not make it on the production car, or at least not on the regular versions.

From some angles, the Q60 Concept coupe looks a bit too busy, but Infiniti will likely tone it down a few notches before the car reaches the brand's dealerships.

Being the coupe version of the Q50 sedan, the Q60 Concept's interior is identical, sans the show-car glitz with quilted door panel and seat covers, carbon fiber trims and a thinner and sportier steering wheel.

While Infiniti hasn't mentioned anything about the Q60's underpinnings, it should share everything with the Q50.

The Q60 Concept will break cover at the 2015 Detroit Motor Show next week.

Speaking with AutoGuide at the Canadian International Auto Show in Toronto, a company representative who commented on the condition of anonymity said that we should expect two versions of the car with the entry level model starting at right around 400 hp. The second model will be a performance focused version, keeping more of the concept car’s more aggressive design cues and making as much as 450 hp.
Very interesting. Should up the ante quite a bit. Current Q60 starts at $40,000 and goes on up to $50,000.

Personally I am not expecting too much here... the Infiniti offering has always been heavier, softer, and typically lower build quality compared to Lexus and the German rivals. But it's nice to see there will be more competition in this market.

Not much of an Infiniti fan myself but this will keep pushing the competition.

Wonder if this engine will make it into the next Nissan Z car since they've been sharing engines with the G35/G37 (now Q50/Q60) cars.

Would make sense if they keep the Z in its current segment and price range but if they decide to move the Z downmarket and make it smaller/lighter then it'll probably get a smaller engine (turbo 4) as rumored.
