Sup. I recently purchased a used A90 3.0 which came with a tune and a few modifications. I have no clue which tune or the tuner that was used for the vehicle, the reason why I know is tuned is because the car it self starts in sport mode (which is something i been told a tuner can accomplish) is there a way or someone here that can flash my ECU back to stock? thanks

That's done with bimmercode. Has nothing to do with engine tuning. Just allows you to change a few factory settings, like starting in sport mode.

I don't have much experience with resetting to stock other than taking it to dealer and casually asking "I've heard there is a software update" but you may lose your tuning abilities like this...

Maybe you can reach out to tuners with the VIN and they can check to see if they've a record of it... Licences are usually tied to VIN... but a DME backup would have been courteous by seller... They may have reverted it, who knows.. Any cables and whatnot under the hood that looks aftermarket?
Chances are if it has intake, downpipe, etc, it's actually tuned and not just BimmerCode... But again, if license was transferable, they may have tuned then sold, but I don't know if they would have had to revert to original or not....

It has a meth injection, downpipe, and a bunch of other things done so yeah must be tuned. I'll ask few local shops of what my choices are

Well, in that case, it may be tuned, but it’s not because it starts in sport mode. You might want to consider changing out those parts before removing the tune as you will likely get a CE light.

I heard the dealer is pretty good at removing tunes. ?

Okay so I got an update hopefully someone can guide me on the right direction on this.

I pulled the ECU out the car and found out that it had sticker unlocked on 12/21/2020 ecutek flash points applied by Delicious Tuning.

Gave them a call and explained the situation they said they can't help me in any way since I'm not the person that tuned the car with them, which was the previous owner. I don't have any contact with the previous owner, so I asked him and he said that if the car was flashed by us with ecutek the car should have a license. My best bet was to buy a ecutek kit and re flash the car back to stock.

Is this my best bet?

Yikes!!! That is crappy by the tuner.....understand the "legalities" of it all but still kind of crappy from a "customer" service stand point. Of course, you were not the original owner so I get it.

They are protecting themselves legally.

Wouldn’t a toyota update erase the tune?

A good portion of us won’t allow the dealer to connect to the obdii port since it’ll likely erase the tune. Not sure why that couldn’t be an option to get back to stock.

I don't want toyota no where near my ecu.. I believe that will lock my ecu to the newest update and block me from further tuning. I want to get the car back to a stock ecu because I want to use a tune of my own not someone elses. (previous owner has 100% pops and bangs delete.... )

That is not how it works. They can’t make it unlockable/untunable unless they actually replace the ecu. They can make it where you will need a bench unlock again, but they can’t make it like the 21’s

why don’t you just get another license and have your new tuner send you a new rom to overwrite the existing tune?

might be a better conversation to have with your tuner of choice

You need to ask yourself if you want to keep the mods. If yes, just buy EcuTek and tune it whichever way you like.
If you will revert the car to stock, then it's stupid of Delicious tuning to force you to buy. You don't want license or the hardware. Any EcuTek dealers closeby? Just go and ask them to flash back to stock... They may charge you for service, but shouldn't need to buy a license...

I want to keep the mods yeah, I bouht the Ecutek programming kit (without license, since I asked them and once you tune the car with ecutek you already basically have a license) it should arrive tomorrow. I'll go ahead and just buy over a OTS tune and write it over this one.

The car currently has :

Meth injection
Charge Pipe upgrade
DownPipe upgrade

Sounds to me a stage 2 OTS tune will do it correct?

If you have the money I would have it custom tuned. Every engine is different so a custom tune is best.

Yeah was thinking the same, I just want to get this tune off the car. Don't get me wrong the car is fast.... Just the car does 0 pops and bangs, only at startup which makes me believe he removed them
