Considering the a91 edition were some of the first 21 models I would think it's plausible...
N yes I know stickers n mirror caps wouldn't cause the issue so no need to be a DICK!
Yeah some people on here are too emotional about this, yeah it’s true some 2021 supras have an issue with burning oil but we all got a warranty (unless yours is voided) so we will all be good as long as you report your issue! Come forward and don’t be scared about it! Mistakes were made somewhere and toyota will get to the bottom of it!

2021 3.0 Premium owner here. Got my first low oil notification at 3600 miles, added a quart and it showed the oil level at max. It's been 1000 miles now and checked it yesterday and it's showing right in the middle of min and max. Was contemplating doing my first oil change at 5000 miles.

Everything is going smoothly now. I received confirmation of my case file number and the dealership has documented everything accurately. They are doing a good job of keeping me as a customer.

-Expect oil consumption to be higher in the first 5,000-10,000 miles. I personally advise a catch can during break in- even if you dont leave it on forever.

-document oil consumption with dealer

-if high consumption remains after 5k, look at plugs and get a compression/leak down test done to ensure its within spec and go from there.

what catch can have you found to actually "catch" oil on these?

ive had good luck with mishimoto’s on b58’s but i dont think brand is important as long as its baffled and flows well enough not to create crank case pressure.

no supra to show you pics, id try google. Im going off what i had on a previous b58 And others.

usually sans a ring or ringland issue youll find a bunch of oil during break in, and then it will lesson over time. Its a good early warning sign when youre running high cylinder temps and pressures.

I believe the reason he asked you for pics is because members of this forum have had no luck with catch cans of any sort (both PCV and CCV sides). Mishimoto included. There are multiple threads on this board documenting peoples frustrations with catch cans collecting essentially nothing while going prices for them seem to be only going up. So if the claim is "use a catch can" then perhaps it's best to specify which one and throw in some proof that it's nothing like the ones that were previously discussed. My .02.

Toyota needs to hurry up and release a TSB. More and more 21 owners seem to be having this issue. Those who answered no, what is your mileage?

and that very may well be. Im not aware of a PN change in any parts of the pcv system between the supra b58 and other variants, but i havent sat with the parts list to know for 100%

i personally put a catch can system on every Fi build I do, because it serves as a great indicator of ring problems. Its “my way” and “a way” but certainly not the only way.

id be curious to hear if anyone has installed a catch can, not had any contents, but still had oil consumption issues. It doesnt seem the 20’s were having the consumption issues the way a few batches of ‘21’s have. So is it the catch can is entirely not needed on the current b58? Or it wasnt catching as much becuase it wasnt burning oil. In most fi builds youll see a degree of relationship between the two, especially at high cyl pressures.

That relationship has diminished somewhat over time as lighter weight oils have started to burn off cleaner, but its still there usually. This is why i advocated for pulling the plugs, because that will tell you if its burning off. If theres nothing in the can, and the plugs look good, and youre still getting high oil consumption- get an oil analysis done to determine rate of bearing wear. It could be as easy as these motors need more break in than we’re used to seeing in most modern cars. It would explain why previous issuances if b58’s start off eating oil then stop after a few thousand miles. i would document everything i find, because bmw has had more than a couple runs of bum engines over the years, and if there is a bearing wear issue it may or may not come to terminus before your warranty expires.

oil consumption goes somewhere, this is how those inclined to know the answer of where and why start figuring it out.

1400 miles and still full. At Toyota now for alignment post spring install. I mentioned others having oil burning issues and she asked me if I’ve received my letter from Toyota about it yet. Stated they have sent out letters acknowledging the issue.
