Hey All. Recently took receipt of my Nitro yellow Supra. Absolutely loving it, however there are a few things that I am looking to upgrade and wanted to seek this groups opinion of any recommended aftermarket providers.

Iā€™m specifically looking to replace the steering wheel, and the terrible horn that sounds like it belongs in a toy car. Maybe long term will also consider putting on some carbon fiber trim on the spoiler and side skirts.

Ideally, looking for somewhere in Abu Dhabi due to the pain of having to cross Emirates currently.

Hi mate, you can request to join the UAE GR Supra group through their Instagram - grsupra.uae

A brother named Fadi has his workshop based in Abu Dhabi itself if I'm not wrong and he's part of the group too, so him and the rest of us would help you out.

Guys, does activating Apple CarPlay impacts warranty by any mean? And anyone has a formal feedback from Toyota on the same?

Hi mate. I think it connects through wifi Instead of Bluetooth. They installed an upgraded Wi-Fi antenna. Total cost was around 1400 AED.
Do you think there's a better way to activate CarPlay without 1400 AED? Will you be able to share a pic of the antenna if possible?

Iā€™m not sure if any new method exists to activate CarPlay, however at the time this was the only solution that I found.

the Wi-Fi antenna is installed behind the head unit so unfortunately I wonā€™t be able to send a picture

Yes, it is possible to activate the native CarPlay functionality without installing an MMI box. For example:

https://bimmer-remote.com/products/firmware-upgrade-for-toyota-supra-carplay-fullscreen

I installed an MMI box myself for Android Auto since the car does not natively support it.

Oh this is a cool solution. Have you tried something like carlinkit adapter? I used to have one in my old car because it had CarPlay but not wireless CarPlay. They also have one to add in Android Auto to head units that don't have it I think.

I wonder why an antenna is needed because by default I think the premium model has all the hardware.. but it's just region locked? I might be super wrong with this one.

I have not tried an adapter like that before. It might work, but for Android Auto the MMI box is the best method available, even though it is a hassle to install.

You are correct, an antenna is not needed (for Carplay). It is an option but it's not ideal because it doesn't use the car's native support.

With the MMI box, my phone would connect to it over Wifi and Bluetooth together. Both are required for it to work correctly. However, I stopped using it wirelessly because sometimes I just want Bluetooth on, but not use all the Android Auto features. So it also has a USB connection which I use when I want Android Auto.

You could contact @BRCoding for more details on the coding and how it would work on your car.
