Help! Does anybody else have a noise coming from the rear going over cracks in the pavement. It almost sounds like the hatch isn't closed properly. I've adjusted the bump stops on the hatch, and the noise persists. It's not coming from the suspension. I've done some tests that rule that out. Also, does anybody else have nots coming from the headliner? It's driving me nuts.

Can you describe the sound, is it tinny sounding or more of a thunk?

Hard to judge by your description.

We recently took our first overnight trip in the Supra. We had the hatch fairly packed with gear. After the trip, I noticed an irritating noise emanating from the hatch area.

It ended up being the cover, which I had to pull and re-seat. The noise was gone after that. HTH.

It’s the hatch cover most likely—snap it in.
I removed the lid, rear trunk floor, and also pulled all the stuff out of the side compartment (Tire inflation kit...etc) The noise still was there.

I saw you had battery troubles when you bought your car. Did they change the battery and leave the tie down bar loose?

I was looking through my pics and the only other item back there that can make a thunk sound is the battery.

Previously experience something similar by the sound of things... At first i thought it was my battery tie down but my rear under brace came slightly loose. Got it all tightened and no issues any longer.

I checked that as well, and it was tight. I did find that the hatch strut was loose at on of the ball sockets, but I'm unsure if that was the noise. I grabbed both struts, and wiggled them both. the left one had some play in it.

It sounds like it could be outside the car if you’ve eliminated possible loose items in the trunk area. Maybe a stabilizer bar or exhaust hanger?
