Well, exactly 4000 miles later and my oil went to the halfway mark so issue hasnā€™t completely gone away with the Liqui Moly 5w-30 but it has definitely made an improvement! I can go a full oil change interval without having to worry about it hitting the min mark.

I know it's early... but 2022 models are looking hopeful? Maybe they changed something?

you shouldnā€™t worry just buy and enjoy the car

I was stressing about it and after 3000 miles on my 2021 it appears fine. It doesnā€™t affect all cars.

Down half a quart in 4,000 miles on a high Hp engine isnā€™t bad at all.

Even non-turbo engines consume oil. My 10 year old Tacoma can drop as much as 1/4 of a quart in 3,000 miles. I push that truck hard and its been super reliable.

For sure. I donā€™t care about it burning oil as long as it stays reliable, which only time will tell. I plan on keeping this one for awhile and so far it hasnā€™t let me down once in the almost 13k miles I put on it in the last few months.

Iā€™m not sure if oil burning cars tend to last as long as ones that donā€™t burn oil, as Iā€™ve never owned a sports car longer than a couple years lol. Maybe they last longer, maybe not. Maybe its not a factor in relatability at all. Iā€™m no engineer by any means haha.

Oil was changed at 1500. Iā€™m sitting at 2500+ miles so far. The oil levels on my 2022 have been just fine. I was worried also due to the lengthy thread about this issue so I check my oil (even to this day) every 500 miles or so.

Not sure if this played a role but I didnā€™t
follow my break in period to a T. Had to give it the juice more than once in awhile hah.
:headbang:Shhh donā€™t tell anyone!

That's the way you are suppose to break it in lol. Force those piston rings to expand and form into the cylinder walls.

Just want to check in here to see if we have any word on a fix from Toyota for this oil burning issue?

I'm at 10k miles and have had to add in oil 4 times already (2021MY)

What was the total added. More than likely you are within the spec BMW issues for oil use in a motor.

1 was an oil change and the other 3 occasions was me pulling over to the side of the road and needing to drop a quart.

This is my 4th BMW definitely not normal to be burning THIS much oil, one quart within 10k miles wouldn't be alarming but this isn't the case here. Even heard from 2 different dealers that Toyota is aware of the issue and working on a fix. Friend of mine was actually able to get an engine swap on his A91.

Generally that is the ONLY fix. A new motor.

I have had zero issues with any BMW motor overall and never an oil use issue as well. Its a car, they have variance and they can be faulty. Every maker faces this. Overheating, oil use etc etc. Or never ending software issues lol.

It's true! every car has a weird "Achillies hill" issue, this one worries me if I want to keep the car past Warranty. Otherwise, the car would be PERFECT
