I'm surprised that the 4 cylinder Z4 in that article is only 150HP when the 2019 MIata is at least 181hp and cost way less. Those Miata are always a bargain for the enthusiast. Answer is always miata lol
Drive one man. It's s blast. I own an 2016 ND.

Love to hear from a BMW engineer that Z4 is faster than M2 at the track. From what we know, Supra will be lighter, with a more track-focused suspension, this is a good sign.
That looks very promising. Hoping this turns out right. But with the stats we've getting that the Supra could have 350hp, 3200+ lbs, and $60k pricing, this doesn't look too good either.

That’s not M3/4 beating power out of the box. Unless the power under the curve is tremendous with that Toyota version of the B58. Which I highly doubt.. so but purely going by the peak HP figures the price point, weight and output will result in a failure project.

Toyota version of the B58.
Said where?

Motor is making 350 right now, and potentially might be edited to go higher for the ever growing highway monster war on the US. Potentially 365-425 while weighing less than the m2 by several hundred pounds. How is that a failure?

The M2 should be a failure and the cayman should be a failure at its price point but it isn't.

Dimensions very similar to 991 Carrera

370hp

1460kg

The specs are very, very similar to a 991 Carrera.

Yes Porsche have been tweaking and tuning their platform for 60 years.

While the viper et Al are ultimately muscle cars that can turn, the Porsche etc are corner cars that can go fast. Different philosophy to start with, similar end results.

Inb4 someone says the 911 costs twice the Supra, and the Cayman and Viper are still totally out of price range.
M2? Cayman? Failure? Sure they're not cheap, but they're not failures. I drove a friend's M240i recently, and that car was definitely not a failure.

Whic means if the Z5 is faster than an M2 (slightly rougher M240i), and the Supra is better and faster than a Z5 (maybe), then I'm looking forward to this.
Very.

So to expand more, here’s the G29 Z4 (ZF Transmission Technical Application Guide)

The production dates go back to engineering freeze and the ones with no end date so far are the final production transmissions.

With the J29, there are only 2 models listed (equivalent to the Z4 30i and RoW M40i). That leaves a 3rd that

A: Doesn’t have a ZF transmission
B: BMW is not the applicant for the Emissions Certificate (the older SPX data list - German for Shared Emissions Index)

As to the GT86 reference, thats something for another discussion.

Hmm What AM I driving?
I'm a convertible person so I'm pretty excited about the Z4, even though I like the way the Supra looks much more. I'll be looking to see it at the Concours :)

I'm kind of a convertible person so I'm following the Z4 closely. Hopefully MKV community is still welcoming even if the badge is different ;)

Same here. Nothing beats driving with the top down on a cool day.
