Hello Everyone,

This is going to be a quick review on the replacement hood vents from OEM+ Designs (@oemplusdesigns).

The design, material, finish, is exactly the same as the factory hood vent but instead of it being blocked off it actually has a honeycomb vent style inside. It's a very small detail but I think it's a great upgrade to have. I prefer these over the carbon fiber alternatives because it gives a more OEM+ / factory look.

Install was very easy, the factory ones popped right out using my fingers and then putting these in were even easier. They use factory style clips so no double sided tape is needed.

This looks great. Though they will still be non-functional. The opening does not have direct connection with engine bay space. I would also worry about rain water getting through this vent into space between hood shell and frame. Water may accumulate there and cause all kind of issues.

There is actually a hole that directly connects to the engine bay so some heat will be able to escape.
As far as the water it’s also supposed to drain so it’s not stuck there.

No heat escapes from there. That hole doesn't really allow any airflow. Any airflow would already exit through the gaps around the factory covers.

Throw some thermo couplers all over the place and show us with data!
i don’t have the equipment to do that, it’s for sure better than factory

You can also make the hole larger to increase functionality but the main purpose of this is appearance.

Related but sorta off topic: Went to an autocross event and this dude cut about index card sized squares into his wheel fenders and also enlarged those hood holes with some mesh vents (not these, custom) and he was killing lap times all day, bracket leader. He said something about the holes releasing the wheel pressure and heat while running hard. He was having heat soak issues prior to this according to him.

Not sure if any of this made a real difference but his numbers didn’t lie, time wise at least.

Fender vents definitely help at the track to release pressure from the wheels
