Hey everyone, I picked up a 23 MT Absolute Zero Premium last week and just wanted to see if I am alone regarding how the factory MT Supra comes out of the box.

Granted I am still in break in period with 350 miles now, I feel as if the car barely has any engine or exhaust noises or personality while driving. The ASD seemed quiet and when I disabled it with bimmercode the noises are nearly non-existent. I confirmed that my valve opens and there's hardly any difference opened or close in normal or sport mode.

So my question Is for owners who experienced both auto and manual prior to the 23 models. Are the 23+ models including the auto quieter because of regulations or did manuals get shafted with a quieter exhaust and neutered tune from the factory?

Just a sample clip that from the outside with some light revs there are still noises and slight burble however I cannot hear anything most of the time while driving.

I know that an intake, catted dp and potentially a new valved exhaust is high priority for mods to do but just wanted to get others thoughts and opinions.

You in sport mode?
I am, and I confirmed that the valve is opening. I can def hear noises but compared to the factory autos from videos it seems a LOT quieter. Of course mic set up factors and all but just seeing if anyone had similar experiences.

Is there an expectation for stock ZF8 Supras to sound anything more than "whelming"?

I've put around 500 miles on a bone-stock A91-MT, and spent about 30 minutes driving what I assumed to be a bone-stock 3.0 Premium ZF8 (can't remember which model year, it was a test drive from a CarMax-type place) — didn't feel that either car sounded particularly satisfying, not that I expected such.

You might be expecting too much from a car with the stock intake & exhaust? Especially if you're driving it gently due to being in the break-in period.

Actually, I forgot I had a quick test drive in a 20 or 21 auto and I know for sure it popped and burbled a lot more and was a bit louder with the ASD.

I am still breaking in so maybe once I am able to open it up more it'll sound better and maybe I do have a bit more expectations for a stock car but I just remember the auto being a bit more dramatic.

The 2020s are much more lively from an exhaust perspective. For some reason, they seem to have dialed it back each subsequent MY.
Thanks for the confirmation and that's very unfortunate. Are they dialing back the ASD? Packing the muffler more? Has anyone come to the conclusion on how they're quieting the car down?

Once the car warms up, I think it sounds good at idle. My car also burbles quite a bit when backing off the throttle. I might be in the minority, but I’m pleased with the sound and plan to leave the exhaust as is.

I think it sounds pretty good for a 3 liter, go back and listen to a stock MK4. GE or GTE they are quite and unassuming

That sounds “normal”/appropriate. I’d almost say ours sounds a bit better 1000 miles in versus brand new but that’s likely just a mental thing, and of course, driving harder.

Agreed that stock is arguably underwhelming.

Hoping to shoot some sound clips when DP arrives to include stock, +exhaust, and +exhaust+DP —— for comparison sake. Will advise.

Coming from a catless but nearly stock muffler N55, I greatly enjoy what just a Function Werk 200 cell DP did to my A91s sound. I will still go for a cat back in future but I’m pretty satisfied for now.
