I hope that the Supra coming in at the sub 60k range when basically all of the cross shopped options (M2C, TT RS, Cayman GTS) are in the 70-85k range really forces BMW, Porsche, and Audi to rethink their pricing.
I don't think it works that way. All those cars are a tier above and I don't think they much care for Supra sales. If anything, Toyota may increase their prices since the Z is clearly no competition at all.

Prices of supra will just creep higher and higher as inflation goes up. Like the r35 gtr. New nismo is a quarter of a mill when years ago when it released it was sub 100k.

The “blue” cities in California really and truly f****d the entire state. I positively love the land and natural beauty that there is, but would never EVER live there. EVER. Last time I was out there, $48 for two coffees and two sandwiches. No shit. F*** out of here with that…

Yeah, I’m surprised how much car you get for the money. Most Porsche and Vette guys aren’t as worried about consumables. So yes that and if not tracking, why not spend a little more. I get it.

They’ve got a great niche at this price. Even consumer reports list the Supra as the best bargain sports car. If they can get people to actually use the free track day, the Supra is a no brainer.

Poor NYC and many others. Incredible wasteful spending. And all major news media avoids reality like the plague. So at least more people are learning how to listen to podcast and alternate methods to see what’s really going on. But yeah, poor CA is in another league of spending/taxes. Hopefully more people will start waking up, vote them out & help us all fight inflation with less govt spending.

Toyota was smart as hell to platform share this one. Even new development on an old platform is expensive. Have you seen the price of a new Mustang 5.0? Heavy as hell and nowhere near as refined as this Supra.

Well I am planning to move to flyover territory before next year because I have had it with california. Having home values continuously rising and property taxes in tandem is a scam that keeps you on the hamster wheel. At least my shitty stealership didn't drill holes into my front bumper when I took delivery. But cops here love to ticket me no matter what I drive so I predict I will get a front license ticket before summer even arrives.

Do you think a major factor in the hopeful appreciation is the fact that supra production ends in 2025? What about it essentially being a bmw in all but name to the general public?

I wouldn’t recommend calling wherever you move “flyover territory” or a flyover state to the locals, chief.

I couldn't care less about politics and who runs it. As long as I have money and food. But right or left government spending and taxes are basically inevitable. Doesn't matter what either side says.

I'm not talking about used prices. I'm talking about msrp. The r35 has gone up year over year. And was promoted as an affordable super car. Which is it not anymore and out of range for many people.

Yes, I remember when the R35 first came out, and it was around same price of Supra now. My dreams of having one in the fleet are slowly pulling away. Granted they did make a lot of updates to transmission to make it better, it's still really climbing in process year over year.

FACTS! I avoid speaking to anyone in general. I spurt out the usual niceties and anything after that makes me want to slam my hog in a door jamb.
We are cut from the same cloth my friend haha

I haven't really felt the Supra as a tier below on its own seeing the others' performance on the track and sitting inside them. The TT RS and M2C didn't feel $15-20k more car, and the options silliness with the Cayman really more than offset the better feel in the car.

I'd say the Supra offers more than its MSRP suggests, but I agree it's wishful thinking that it makes the Germans bring down their prices.

Yeah. I guess I mean from price point. It's funny how cars are priced differently here.

For example the top of the range Supra in my state translates to roughly $73,000USD. The Z4 works out to be around $100,000USD and the M2 roughly $86,000USD.

The 86 is around $31,000USD while the new Z is around $50,000USD.

Also, as far as I can tell, dealers don't mark cars up here.. although I've heard they sometimes sell
new cars as "used" which then allows them to mark them up. ?

Beyond this, cars like the Cayman and Emira are so much higher priced here that they never enter into the equation.

PS: These are all rough numbers, so don't quote me lol.

100% agree, even here.

100% agree, even here.
Damn, the distance from Europe to Australia really drives European car prices up I see.
