Recently, my 2020 3.0 Premium got towed (flat bed).

Sure enough, on the drive back home, I got the infamous chassis function limited notification. Looked under the car and saw the plastic bracket for the rear ride height sensor was snapped in half. I taped the bracket back in place while a new bracket comes.

However, I’ve noticed 2 things-

1. whenever I put the car in reverse and/or drive getting out of the garage, The rear end while slightly raise (reverse) or lower (drive) in a controlled manner. This is accompanied with a slight creaking noise.

2. the low beams on the car seem to be pointed lower than usual.

I’m hoping that these both are just symptoms of the broken bracket and replacing it will solve the issue, but are these instead likely signs of more serious issues? It’s completely possible the car has always done this raising and lowering and I’m now just noticing, but am not sure if that’s normal behavior regardless.

Anyone have thoughts? Car is fully stock.

The raising and lowering should be normal. The headlights are from the broken ride height bracket. I don’t think there’s anything to worry about.

thanks for the reply. Relieving to hear to say the least! And no concerns about the slight creaking noise that happens as it moves? Maybe just a part that needs more lubrication?

That creaking is the sound of torque being applied to the rear suspension and diff bushings. When you shift to drive or reverse, with the brakes on, the motors torque cannot spin the wheels, so it just loads up the motor mounts/diff bushings/suspension bushings. This is normal unless the sound gets louder or changes significantly.

Additionally, if you the brake pads/rotors themselves can make a scrunching sound if you aren't pressing the brake pedal hard enough during while selecting drive or reverse. That sound would be the motor slightly moving the wheel while the brakes are applied. This can be cured by pressing the brake further while shifting at rest.
