Hi XPEL, the shop that is doing my PPF stealth just told me that the film is not big enough to cover the whole hood. So there will be 2 pieces to cover the hood of the supra. So they suggest covering the line with a racing vinyl stripe. Is that true and do you have any recommendations around this? Didn't want to add racing stripes on my hood but having an exposed seam line will drive my OCD off the wall.

That's apparently the case with both Xpel and Suntek - the biggest size sheet either of them make is 60", but if you have a good installer it shouldn't be visible unless you're right up on it (and adding the FUSION PLUS ceramic should help cover it up even more).

On a dark color, seams can be hard to spot. On a light color it can drive you nuts.

So do I tell them to go horizontally or vertically?

Exactly and it's stealth so it can be seen easily, unlike gloss where the shine can hide the seams.

I'm just leaving that part up to my shop - I told them to do whatever they think makes sense... hopefully it turns out well lol.

Btw, what color Supra did you end up picking up, RRKnight?

White on Red. The shop said horizontal with the lines close to the windshield.

Oh wow - that should look really nice. I'm excited to see pics once the PPFing is done! I'll post some pics of mine (black exterior) after I get it back from the shop. I'm interested to see how much the seams will show up photographically versus in real life with the Stealth on white versus black.

Wait, what? They can't do the hood with one piece even in a custom install?

I spoke with them and they said that they'd need a 72" piece to do that, and so it ends up being two pieces due to the largest Stealth size being only 60". The profit margins on Stealth are apparently much lower for them even though they charge more for it because it's a really tricky material and a lot of it ends up not making it into rolls to be sold due to their strict quality control procedures; also, the number of cars that would require a 72" are kind of few and far between. As a result, it probably doesn't make sense (financially) for them to produce sheets that size.

Here's a video that shows the 72" size with a Suntek (clear bra) custom install:

I just realized you were talking about their Stealth film, I plan on going with the Ultimate Plus (white car). I'm hopeful it comes in the required width?

I was told the same thing with the Xpel material and the hood requiring 2 pieces due to the largest piece being 60". Oh well, some protection is better than no protection :)
