2020 Supra Quirks

This surprises me as well. I figured it was like my previous Audis and VWs with a sync button or something else to make them match. Maybe there is another way to do it with BMW systems. I haven’t dug into the manual yet.

I read the manual cover to cover, and couldn't find any mention of how to do this. I was a bit surprised.

Quirks I have noticed:

The back end gets COVERED in brake dust. After only 100 miles the back end looked like it was covered in soot, mostly on the lower arch's but it gets all over the back end of the car. The little Toyota badge was filthy after just a few days. I actually ordered detailing brush's to deal with that. They just arrived, so I went to clean it. On closer inspection the whole back end was covered in dust and dirt. Only needed a good wipe down (Car has not seen rain yet).

While doing that I did notice a quirk on the exhaust. The left one is open and no signs of soot etc yet. The right one has a noticeable white deposit where some fluid is getting trapped behind the closed valve and is released when opened. Something gets trapped in water behind the valve and comes out when its opened. Not sure what it is, it's white like limescale, but I can't see limescale coming from moisture in the air, so dunno what it is.

I actually spotted another on the road today! Never thought I would see one as only 300 in the UK this year. A red one drove by me in Dover this afternoon about 13:40 or so. I only saw him/her in the rear view mirror.

Not sure if this is common knowledge but I had assumed the parking sensor button by sport mode just turned the sensors off. I realized today it actually activates them and is actually really useful for when parking somewhere tight or with a blind curb...figured I would share just in case people hadn’t tried that button yet and are as scared as I am about curbing my brand new baby!

Mine do but I feel like it's only at low speed.

Ya I noticed they have turned on by themselves a few times but if they don’t you can push the button to activate it

There is a setting in the menus for them to automatically come on. Make sure that’s set. The speed threshold is really low but i trigger mine each time I pull in or out of the garage.

Have a picture of the main areas the brake dust covers? I’m wondering about ppf there.

It's the whole back of the car. From the trunk to the diffuser. It's pretty normal on performance cars.

The temp settings\AC are confusing me.

Started my car the other day and I have my temps set lowish (18C), it was 30C outside with my AC and Auto switched off - with these settings I was still getting cold air from the vents which I didn't think would be possible with an ambient temp at 30C and the AC disabled. I had assumed that setting any cold temp would just give you outside air until you told the car that it can use the AC (this is how it has worked for every other car I've ever owned).

Was it in the garage? That may have cooled down the vent system. Also, may have cooled down if the A/C was on when you started the car.

If the A/C and auto was off, it would just be outside ambient temp or heated.

Clown car horn has definitely got to go. I can't imagine a group of engineers sitting around the table saying, "That's a great sounding horn". Will be looking to change this out quickly.

If it’s like other BMW systems, you can tailor the temperature of each vent group. BMW believes in keeping the air aimed at the driver’s upper torso and head cooler to aid in alertness.

The manual is very sparse in describing the settings, but what I’ve underlined here suggest there may be a similar setting that is defaulting to a cooler temperature.
