For starters those floor mats are straight out of a Corolla. No shame Toyota.

Lack of ambient lighting. It's a 2020 almost every car on the planet from KIA's to VW's have some and our cars got nothing. When you have a all black interior it's a bit dark.

The lack of rear net latches is simply an insult.

We have all mentioned the steering wheel.

How much did Toyota think we were going to go to the "aftermarket" for? Some of this is basic 2020 items.

This is why I made zero effort for the LE. The LE should have come with a different steering wheel, more CF parts and designated mats and every single option. That is what most manufacturers do to "launch editions" they give it the works...not blackened wheels and a sticker.

rant over.

Yes I still like the car but I drove my RS3 today and it came with special mats, ambient lighting ( better sound system) great steering wheel etc. ( yes we complain about what it didn't come with too, Homelink, powerseats etc) but I get reminded when I drive other cars what the Supra was lacking and for what? maybe 1k dollars tops...which they could have fetched 2500 as an option package.

Honestly I dislike ambient lighting and the floor mats I donā€™t care about because I put my shoes on them.

There are two gripes I have about the car that canā€™t easily be fixed, I dislike the warning sounds it makes and I dislike the steering wheel.

Well you're in luck, you got no ambient lighting and crap mats. On the other-hand you are better off than most of us as Beemer code should take care of the chimes and bells. Steering wheel will be offered at some point.

prepare for rant :p
ā€¢ ambient lighting and floor mats for me are also not that important. lighting: added cost, added wiring/weight, for? doesn't really serve a purpose for me. mats are an item of taste, which I mean everyone has a different opinion and preference on. I'm not putting all season rubber mat on my car! Aftermarket will surely come with a logo'ed one. Yes, they could have at least added a logo, but still...
ā€¢ rear net latches. I agree. that is such an oversight, makes you wonder if they rushed the car, answer is yes.
ā€¢ steering wheel agreed. not too bad, not great either.
ā€¢ bells/chimes haven't bothered me yet.
ā€¢ buffering hasn't bothered me yet.
for me:
ā€¢ Brighter Screen. I've fiddled with everything, it still isn't bright enough. but maybe that's an industry standard and I don't recall other cars, maybe it's because it's just out there in the middle getting light from all around...(not talking about backup camera, it has it's own brightness settings, it's great). either case, needs to be brighter. People are driving this in Summer!
ā€¢ Remote Start. FRS/BRZ/GT86 didn't come with remote start either, in later model years they added it. maybe that'll be the case, but if we're already waiting in the car for the engine to warm up before driving, meaning we're using fuel and thus emissions; why not add as option. Most cars have max timer of 10-15min for idling. Similar could have been done. Car already comes with remote entry..
ā€¢ Wasted space in tachometer area. totally against a "secret" menu. why not put that as a regular option! Check out Charger/Challenger/Mustang/etc. they all come with 0-30, 0-60, 100, 100-0, etc timers with pressure, temp, etc gauges. heck the dated GTR has a ton.. I'm gonna say, maybe they wanted to serve aftermarket? but as nice as this car looks, I really don't want to add stupid ass external dials to get these gauges. well, ok phones, I also don't like that. then you need a mount. for it to be robust you have to mount to the windscreen which gets in the way. Instead, even though it's not the biggest screen, the 8.8" touch screen with the "sports display" can definitely house more gauges. Surely, during testing, verbose mode or whatever, they have stuff like this. They wanted to keep them for model year face lift???
ā€¢ Wireless Charger. why couldn't they make it a bit higher? My S8+ with wallet case doesn't fit in there. You'll say it won't even charge, but my Anker wireless charger can charge it..I'm sure there are iPhone folks as well with similar issue..
Also, if you put even the smallest usb in the usb slot, it's also impossible to remove my iPhone 5s.. (only tried the usb for testing purposes, honestly with sat radio, carplay, etc. I don't feel the need), but still not high enough.. haven't even connected a charger in the port. probably impossible then.

I do get that some things were out of their scope as it's BMW parts, but fans waited 20 years, could have waited 20.5 to get more.
I don't get who handles the marketing anyhow. Only handful of people got their Supra, some are still waiting and it's Spring already. I hardly think that Toyota needed the Supra income. Surely BMW released Z4 and they felt they needed to rush or whatever. but still. Fans could have complained "Z4 is out, where is the Supra?" but in the end we'd have bought it anyhow and surely complained less if it came with the above fixes.
Then again, they intentionally or not, left these out for a facelift.. but! I got my car. Will I sell a used one and lose lets say $10-15K to get a "fixed" one? I'm not so sure. People who'll wait 2? more years to get facelift will be happier perhaps, but whatevs, enough rant. you get the spiel.

Maybe the tires could have been Sport Cup 2's...
Rest is great though. I'm genuinely happy with my experience so far.

Regarding the dim main screen. It is a BMW thing, my JCW has the exact same screen and software...it's bright in CarPlay until it decides to dim. When I touch it it comes back but it is VERY annoying. It cannot be to save energy or the screen. The one thing I know is there is an advance setting in Beemer Code to fix it but I am still trying to get Force Braking dialed in with BC. One thing at a time. I will tell you in BC I was able to have it always start in Sport, turn off Auto/Start change the bells/chimes to a Rolls Royce ( I mess around with it) and so much more...I know the Supra will have this too.

I forgot about the horn! It's ridiculous.

I am hard wiring my radar detector as I cannot have it plugged in and put my iPhone 11 Pro in the charger

Curious if you have a premium. That blank area on the dash comes alive when using navigation with a colored map. It also shows the map on the 8ā€™ā€™ screen and the windshield but it allows for different info on each.

When an action is not coming up, the blank area actually shows how far out until the next action while a full color map is not displayed.

Does you supra not do this, or have you not tried nav yet?

I have LE, hence premium, but I don't see the need to use that area for Nav as I have HUD that show me that and the 8" screen with more details.
My point is, they could have put so much more in there like tire pressure, and made it easier to navigate. Maybe this annoyance could go away if the 8" brightness was higher. I look at the Tire pressures in 8" in day light and it's not easy to see, because 1) it's all the way on the passenger side, 2nd brightness..
anyhow some GT86 examples of what else they could have added. just examples.

Right, but you can throw some info on the 8ā€ and keep map data exclusively for dash and head up... or turn off the nav on heads up. Sucks the choices are limited, but there are SOME options to use that dash space

The floor mats, I get it.

You can do what Gearbangin did: WeatherTech floor liner with custom logo from Stickers International.

I still donā€™t understand why they would think that heated seats were necessary in a car that wonā€™t handle well in the winter. They didnā€™t really think that one through. Ventilated seats wouldā€™ve been much, much better.

Also, I feel like a lot of the speaker problems are due to weird factory equalizer settings / rattling issues. If you play with the equalizer and spend a little bit of time addressing some of the rattles that come from the subs, it hasnā€™t been bad (at least in my experience).

So much this, will be getting one soon but not having ventilated seats and remote start on this car blow my mind... this is a summer weekend car for me. Iā€™ll be damned if I donā€™t want to start my car after it sits in the sun to cool it all down.

I hope they add these two features in the years to come

remote start is not happening, this is a German thing.... No jokes but it is what it is.
But the trunk release sucks, as does ventilated seats. At least through the app / supra connect page you can cool the car
