Message on dashboard " vehicle key battery discharged"

Hi Guys.
I'm getting the message on the dashboard "vehicle key battery discharged".
I've changed the battery in the key fob for a new one, but I'm still getting the message on the dashboard,.
Any idea what could be causing it?

Try another. Sometimes battery new doesn’t hold charge

The keys don't like certain brand batteries as well. I've used Sony CR2032.

Any idea what could be causing it?

GR's are picky about coin cell voltage; some replacement batteries (like off-brand or those with bitter coatings) sit right below the required threshold. Panasonic batteries often fix this.

Tried four supposedly good batteries (test 3 volt+) Apparently, not good enough for BMW, as a new battery bought from a store cued it
