Hi All,

Going to get the "run in" service done next week. Looked online and it indicated £375!!

Have they really adopted BMW prices or have i missed something?

Edit: Apparently them supplying me the oil & filter to change will void the warranty on the car..

Didn’t know it required a ‘run in’ service, I passed the 1200 mile mark first week in June was at dealership following weekend they never said nowt, did more miles in last 3 months than the previous 6.

I thought the first service/oil change was free.

there's not really a run in service, but to keep the same oil that came out of the factory with for 2 years seems a bit odd to me

I saw that on Toyota website, 2yrs/20k miles, on t’other side of pond a few appear to have done it themselves around c1200 miles, so the period & cost does seem excessive.

Fensport offer genuine Toyota A90 oil filter £13 & oils, I might go down this route, then get it done by someone you trust, if it’s a genuine part how are the dealership going to know in 15 or so months when first service is due?

Just searched Toyota oil change and this site gave an approx cost £100 and how to do it, Autobutler.co.uk, next YouTube.

Either way I think it’s a good idea to do. One of the US blokes said his oil had metal filings in after 1200 miles. No way I’d want it in there for longer than that. Seems to be a lot of conflicting information.

In my opinion yearly oil changes is never a bad thing

Oil & Filter change booked in for Monday at a Toyota dealership, at far less than the cost of a 1st service.

I’ll find out then if mines the first they’ve done as not seen any others on the road.

I changed my oil at 1200 miles myself. End of the day it's a service ontop of a service that Toyota won't know about, so yeah!

Found metal shavings in mine too, but not sure if it was just loose castings after breaking the sump plug off or not. Still, for the price of 6L of oil and a filter can't go wrong.

Warranty won't be void as long as you get a garage to do the actual service at the intervals given (which are ridiculously long so I would suggest every year at a minimum) and they use genuine parts.

I'm on about 1400 miles just now, was planning on getting a service at the 1 year mark in early Sept. Don't understand how they're recommending 2 years/20k miles. Will probably just get one yearly for peace of mind.

crazy isn’t it! I havent been above 3500 revs or 100mph yet, so looking forward to slowly building that up as per book, but you can never go wrong with an oil change. I can kind of understand the 2 year thing but not on the first oil change.
