If you want one in SoCal, I can put you together with a dealer that doesn't play games and will sell you a car.

But I totally agree with you many SoCal dealers make it really hard to buy this car. One up in the valleys told me once I get tired of "being played", I would go back to them and buy at 10k over MSRP. I was thinking how unprofessional these dealers are in talking that way, "being played"?? What are we, grade school people?
For that price you could literally fly to a dealer elsewhere, buy the car at MSRP, drop it off to get wrapped in ppf locally, fly back home, and when it is done fly back to pick it up and drive it home. At the end of it all you get a nice weekend road trip in your new car along with a good ppf job for the same price. WTF?

SoCal Toyota dealers are an awful bunch. I've heard really terrible things. One of them went as far as to tell me that all the SoCal dealer GMs met at the factory and agreed not to sell any Supras without a minimum markup of $15K. He said that sales folks offering cars at anything less than that are taking advantage of my "good nature" or are junior folks who know nothing better... and that when I walk into their dealership, they will rescind the offer. Just awful!!! They completely ruined the purchase experience.

I would not buy a Supra in California or at least within Los Angeles. I'd buy one out of state and the initial tax penalty to bring it in and register it would still be worth it. Easier if it can be kept somewhere out of state for just over a year from the time of purchasing it but that's not always possible.

I would not use NoHo Toyota for instance. I have a far better opinion of Carson Toyota as I have happily worked with them for years for parts and service but I've never evaluated what their sales side is like.

There is no tax penalty, you just have the pay the tax that you would normally pay if you bought it in CA. But you have to keep in mind, out of state dealers have high documentation fees as oppose to CA which is limited to $85.00.

Best thing to do is just shop all the dealers in CA, some will be more than happy to sell you at MSRP or less.
