Sometimes things like this are doable yourself at home. You can buy carbon fibre in small plates of varying thicknesses of 100mm x 100mm for example and make stuff like this on the bench.

No it shouldn't have damaged anything. I've driven cars for years with leaking rocker cover gaskets that smoked regularly no dramas. Of course the devil is in the details but should be fine.
OK thats fairly easy and a million miles from a blown HG. I had pretty strong suspicions that the original diagnosis was wide of the mark esp when the issue is under hood smoke and the coolant levels are fine.
You can crack the valve cover if you're ham fisted removing the engine cover I think...

You forgot to mention the no LSPI protection and worse cam chain wear properties of "SN" V "SP" oils.
The advantage of SN+ oils are LSPI protection. The advantage of SP oils is LSPI protection and better cam chain wear protection.
SN oils are 2 generations old now.

The Germans have the dreaded TUV inspection every 2 or 3 years depending on the vehicle. It's totally draconian. So you arrive for your TUV on your bike and it might be say 20 years old. Everything on the bike needs to be as it left the factory OR any mods at all have a TUV certificate...
If this is a possibility then the person changing the oil should probably leave it to someone more experienced. A torque wrench is the answer if your not sure of the "feel".

Buy yourself a rattle can of 2 pack paint and spray paint them yourself. 2 pack is very temperature resistant and an epoxy paint. The rattle can version has the hardener incorporated in the can assembly and you activate it and use then discard the leftovers.
