i have noticed every now and then my warning chime wont go off even though the car is really close to something. I chocked it up to typical BMW problems. The sensor itself is still working though and showing me where the car is relative to the object i'm near on the display.

My conclusion is that most cars have this safety feature, however some are having issues where the car wont leave that safety mode. It makes sense why the dealership wouldnt be able to diagnose this, but i'm curious if this feature can somehow be turned off. Its definitely very disconcerting...

yeah that wouold be for the best. If he really wants to tune i recommend him just getting a used 2020. He'll save a few thousand that way and i dont think people have actually seen any major benefit to tuning a 2021 vs a 2020.
