Okay I found a video showing a BMW atleast tries to connect to the MMB. The MMB starts the connection by itself. So I think the MMB searches for a name like "BMW1234" and not for "Toyota1234". Maybe there is the solution. Is there a way to change the cars name in the iDrive?

Works the same way for me. Use it quite gladly. Found it by accident. I couldn't find anything about it in the manual. I bet there are still features I don't know about. like the coming home light when you push the left lever forward.
