2022 Supra Brake Hold Function

I do this thing where I just hold my foot on the brake pedal at stop lights and traffic… I just haven’t had an automatic brake like you’re describing but seems like it’s fixing a problem that didn’t need to be fixed?

I know our cars have hill assist which is basically the same thing except it only kicks in when the car is on an incline.

Maybe it could be coded in using Bimmercode??

Or like someone else already said, you can just activate the electric ebrake and it will release as soon as you touch the gas pedal.

In the traffic jam, I resort to Adaptive Cruise Control. I don't need to brake or gas. Just lightly holding steering wheel to go straight.

It's weird how Toyota didn't adopt this from BMW with how much stuff they share. Its been a standard feature in the BMW's for ages.
Very handy for when sitting in traffic, one of my small niggles.

Even my 2021 Toyota Yaris has Autohold!

Hi,
Just ordered a 2022 Supra from a dealer but there wasn’t any demo. Just wanted to know if it has a brake hold function (holds the brake when removing your foot from the brake pedal after the vehicle comes to a full stop) as I found it very convenient in my current car.

Supra's should be driven like savage cavemen. We use our right foot to switch from brake to gas pedal.

I was wondering whether we had this function too because it's standard on BMWs and on newer Toyotas. There's no "AUTO H" button on the console and no mention in the manual, so I figured they didn't include it for cost cutting. I also tried pressing all the way down on the brake pedal like in a MB. Nothing.

Cruise control trick sounds neat. I'll give that a try.

This is the unfortunate part of a sports car. Most don’t really have the same technology / luxuries regular cars get. But I agree with @mokleen ; If you drove more like you stole it then this problem would be solved ?

ohhh, you're talking about auto H. sorry about that. No these cars dont have it, but they have the hill assist. any slight incline activates it.

IIRC, auto H is codable, but i can remember how to off the top of my head.

Many is saying that there’s an e brake but it’s different. It’s probably not good for the car to leave it in drive and engage the e brake? You’d probably need to put it in park and engage the e brake which defeats the purpose of convenience. I get it, this is not an essential function and I can hold the brake with my foot, I’m just trying to say that basic cars including bmws and Toyotas have it and it’s nice to have. The cruise control method is probably the closest thing we can get. I’ll definitely try it out when I get the car.

While we're talking about the e-brake, does anyone know if there is a setting that automatically activates the e-brake when I shift into of Park? I know that it might automatically activate if I am parked on a hill, but my driveway is a little sloped and the e-brake doesn't set automatically. I generally don't like it resting on the parking pawl, even though I know it probably doesn't do much harm.

Not sure if this would work for US specs because I'm in Australia.

When you come to a complete stop, keep your foot on the brake, press the cruise control on button, let go of the brake (this will activate cruise control auto braking and the car will not move until you use the toggle button on the steering wheel or acceleration pedal), when you're ready to go, press the cruise control button again to turn off and then accelerate.

Works the same way for me. Use it quite gladly. Found it by accident. I couldn't find anything about it in the manual.

I bet there are still features I don't know about. like the coming home light when you push the left lever forward.

The brake lights do stay illuminated while the cruise control function is active. I use it all of the time. Love how it stops the car for you in traffic. Basically drives itself. Adaptive cruise control is awesome.

Hello, 3literV8Eater. I also drive my 2023 Supra in adaptive cruise control and have noticed an annoying sound that comes from under the hood when the car comes to a complete stop autonomously in adaptive cruise mode. It sounds like a short-to-long "moaning" sound, as if a spring or hydraulic system is resetting after coming to a complete stop. It is very noticeable during the car ride. Have you ever experienced this with your 2022?

I only use adaptive CC on freeways or country roads and cancel it when I hit cities or towns and drive the car myself. Why would you leave it active in traffic and let it brake the car for you? I don't get it.
