What you just did there is exactly what I do, now that I know what to look for. I order the penzoil euro 5w-40 from NAPA and pick it up next day. If I ever run out and need some 5w-40 that day, walmart has Edge euro 5w-40 on the shelf. I have not used it but would without hesitation because...
I have refer you to the oil forums, where they have been talking about the best oil for a tuned b58 for several years. Just FYI I run penzoil euro 5w-30 and 5w-40 because I can get them locally cheap. They meet LL01 the other LL04 and have good KV100 and HTHS values...
Flex fuel kits are simple. They all basically use the same 3 wire sensor with fittings to adapt to fuel lines. It provides a pulse aka frequency output.
You can have a module convert that frequency to a can bus signal (to get it into ECU). You can have a module convert the frequency to an E...
Another thing I have seen @edyvw and others say is that climate does not matter when selecting grade oil. I have mixed feelings about this because devil is in the details. What I think they mean is that unless your cold start temp is super low, where the oil will not flow, the oil is excessively...
The values are good but that oil does not have LL01 or LL04 BMW oil rating or specification listed. The @edyvw guy on the oil forum once said, "the B58 has the timing chain on the back of the engine and BMW includes as part of their specification a timing chain wear test". That little fact was...
You are wrong, lol.
I am where you want to be , except with CTS turbo. I can tell you, it's not enough. Therefore the reason I am currently installing PI, EOS manifold, trans...
The Motul and Castrol have BMW LL01 rating, it looks like the Mobil does not. I highly recommend running a LL01 or LL04 oil in a tuned B58.

I went with CTS and no E85 is anywhere around. Already had water meth. Now I'm in process of going flex fuel PI. Find a local chemical supplier and denatured ethanol should be about $11 a gal delivered. It sucks but better than straight pump gas.
BMW long life 17 fuel economy aka LL17FE is the oil rating you are looking for. I would say that LL01 and LL04 BMW oil specifications are probably more ideal than the 17FE but some people want better fuel economy and more engine wear.
It was very impressive back in the day. My kenne built bell 4.6L mustang with 23 psi had a hard time keeping up with that zo6. He pushed his luck and that beautiful 427 broke a piston and spit out a rod.
Do you ever hear about all the problems with changing your oil early? Nope, because the only short term consequence involves your wallet. Are there benefits, yes restoration of your oil properties. Almost no property of oils, that we are concerned with, improves with use in a ICE. Used oil...
A guy I used to race back in the day, had a C6 zo6 with cam, headers, centrifugal blower and E85. It was pretty wicked, I really liked it. I like the supra B58 too. They both have very technically different engines that I put on a pedestal for different reasons.
I normally stay away from car forums but I really liked the content @decodeddiesel and others post here. Therefore I joined the community to be able to PM some people here for advice including @decodeddiesel. Before I could message him he was banned. Of course I did not see the inappropriate...
Water/meth for cooling and port injection for fuel delivery.
FYI you can buy 5 gal of methanol on amazon for about $110 shipped, buy distilled water locally and mix 50/50 in your old boost juice gallon containers. Works great and saves money. Also if you have a local chemical supplier methanol...
When I look at my STFT its close to unity (1), then as water/meth is introduced it drops to .95-.90 . I would assume this means the closed loop (PID) lambda control is pulling 5-10% fuel to achieve commanded lambda. I am running one 4 gph nozzle, you are running 3x the volume (6+6=12).
Mark, I'm glad you and hopefully others now have a better idea what is important when it comes to B58 engine oil selection.
I should perform used oil analysis, but I have not done so on the B58. I have 20K on it and it has had 7 oil changes. I would rather use inexpensive penzoil platinum euro...
