Please excuse my ignorance, but what is brake glue?
I tucked the wear indicators out of the way and didn't reinstall when I did my most recent brake job. I track my car several times a month and regularly inspect my brakes. Probably the wrong answer. ?
My 2020 repeatedly upshifted to 5th gear, and popped the shifter out of the manual position coming out of the Bus Stop at Watkins Glen. This usually happened at 5000 or so RPMs. I have no idea why it was happening and it wasn't consistent.
Just saying.
Some pics from the brake job...
Old PMU front pads...
Looks like the rubber dust covers on my calipers are starting to give up the ghost. I'll replace these this winter.
New pads and traction arms.
Misplaced one of these:
Luckily it's just a 1/4-20 stainless steel socket head cap...
Started on this, made it about halfway through today. Heading to our friends house for a late dinner and cocktails later down the street. Supra is still on the Quickjacks...
I have a tuner lined up, but I'll definitely keep that in mind. I was tuned on ECUTEK but I'm going to switch to BM3 for my track retune.
Hoping to end up with 420ish at the wheels without overheating on 100...
The custom Botti Stage 1 dyno tune that's great on the street isn't so brilliant on the track. Looking to upgrade to a GESI downpipe and intake manifold then retune for 93 and 100. This will be a good power level for HPDEs so I don't overheat
I really would have rather bought a Catalyst, a GESI downpipe, a HANS Hybrid, or an OMP WRC-R with the money I spent on the pads, but it just wasn't in the cards this year.
The RaceChrono Pro is working WAY better with the powered GPS antenna. I was happy with the performance at The Glen...
Well...At least they're pretty. Looks like I'm doing a brake job tomorrow.
I'm going to keep the old rotors and reuse them with my next set of PMUs. They still look serviceable. I'll take some measurements with a micrometer this weekend to confirm. This will give me a much better idea of pad...
I'll be there on the 11th. I'll go ahead and order the MX+ since it works for you and the RaceChrono community.
Unfortunately I bought the CX about a week after I bought the car in 2021 so I can't return it. Not a big deal!
Are you using a GoPro too? I'm seriously debating adding one of those...
Peter,
Are you able to do data logging through the app? I tried my OBDLink CX, but it's just not pairing reliably and I'm not getting any data. I know the OBDLink MX+ is really popular on the Race Chrono forum, but I don't want to spend money on something that doesn't work.
I'm glad I found this. My PlayStation ID is Nitronic79. I'm probably not going to be online much until track season ends, but I'm planning on playing GT7 quite a bit over the winter.
Sorry I didn't reach out to you yesterday Mark. I know that you graciously offered to help me out.
I'm blaming @Rocksandblues for convincing me to try the CSGs ???
Now that I've driven The Glen, VIR is on my short list of tracks to visit in the next year or two. It's a solid 9 hour drive for me though.
It would be really awesome if all of the track rats from the East Coast were to meet up there for an event. It's pretty centrally located for just about...
You know it.
I'm going to ask for at least 10 so I can tape them all to that giant wing. I'm sure I'll get black flagged at Lime Rock, for the whistle and the debris, but at least the whole track will smell AMAZING for a few minutes.
I mean, why would I need that when Verus sends me one of these every time I make a reckless spending decision?
I guess I should go ahead and order a full Stage 3 aero kit to keep my car smelling fresh.
