For me, the bigger question, does it actually work? Because at 60-70-80 mph, mine still seems like a decoration.
Of course, I bought mine CPO so it came with it. :P
I made that original post (like others) about adding sound material in the trunk using known material. The divider/baffle should work but for me, I like keeping things tidy and out of sight.
I first did the sound material on the floor of the trunk to lower exhaust drone. Effort got me a...
Personally I'd look up an independent BMW shop. And when you show up, spec the alignment for the 2022 Z4. For me, the stock Supra alignment numbers are way too tail happy.
But when you get the alignment, tell the tech how you drive and if tire wear is a concern (say if you commute). A good tech...
@Rensuhlo and I have similar ideas.
At those miles, neither top mount or ball joint should be making noise, but parts do come from the factory defective from time to time.
But from the video, it sounds like the top strut mount bearings as I had some collapse and grind on other BMW cars.
(Ball...
The plastic pump mainly affects 2020 cars with some 2021s. So go 2022 if this is a concern, like on a used car lot. Or buy the extended warranty for a 2020/2021 model or ask a private seller of a 2020/21 if the oil pump was ever replaced.
Also consider test driving a BMW Z4 or 2 3 or 4 series BMW also. Same transmission from what I recall. (Gearing is different, but feel will be the same).
@Vertex beat me to it! :)
This is my Rexpeed wheel which measures 14.5" or 368.3mm
My OEM Supra wheel was about 14.31" or 363.5mm
Assuming the wheel you are looking at is usingO.D. (outer diameter), 330mm is a solid inch and a half smaller. It'll feel pretty good for a track car.
But for a...
Get a cardboard box, string, pencil, pin.
Measure 175mm of string, tie to pencil. Put pin in middle of box. Tie pencil to pin. Draw perfect circle with pencil. Cut out shape. Should be 350mm.
Place over steering wheel. :D
Sounds like you had fun.
But odd mix of structured and unstructured sessions. I'm a 25+ year member of the BMW Car Club (and past Miata Club).
You were right to feel your skills improved with in-car instruction.
I'd done autocross and track days with the Miata Club solo but with the BMW club...
Bring the helmet you have anyway. Motorcycle helmets will do in a pinch. Hooked on Driving, BMW CCA, etc. Schools out here just asked for DOT approved helmets.
Like other posters mentioned, on track helmet rentals may not fit or may just be pretty gross in my experience.
I personally ran an...
Yep, it's one huge reason why I bought the Supra... parts. I was looking at the Lotus Evora and Jaguar too. My plan is 8-10 year ownership and BMW parts are a helluva lot cheaper and easier to find!
About 2-3 hours if you had to budget time. I've had mine on/off 3x. The bulk of the hard work is getting the airbag spring to release. I used small flathead screwdriver and filed a small notch in the middle to better catch the spring.
Once the airbag is off, It's a 16/17mm socket with a breaker...
Agree on looking but 11k miles on the stock arms seems pretty low to have suspension wear issues.
The wear looks like camber versus toe as the tire looks pretty smooth across the face of the tread.
OP, were those alignment specs before or after the springs install? Lowering the car will...
I'm a big fan of the BMW Car Club of America. Your track days all get instructors and it's got a pretty vibrant auto-x program. Look up your local chapter. The people you meet will be local vendors, race car drivers, etc.
The Supra has gotten pretty positive support from its BMW cousins!
If your intent is to put it behind the seats for more bass, it will fit, but I'd suggest don't. The area behind the seats muffle the bass pretty badly. Maybe 50% of the bass tone versus just putting it in the trunk.
I have a PowerBass 10" shallow sub/box and experimented with trunk and seat...
Conceded, for F and G series BMWs, the rear end toe likes to unadjust itself on the fly for stock suspensions.
What's your take on his front toe though? Wouldn't the snowplow settings (12/14 vs 0 or .05) essentially exacerbate the behavior of the rear of the car?
In defense of my post, I was...
