  1. Went from Supra to Gallardo

Congrats, I owned a Super G 14 years ago. Listening to the starter whine for a couple of seconds before the V-10 roars to life is definitely something. Word of advice- never put the gas cap on top of a fuel pump when pumping gas. Because if you forget about it, then it’s a $500 gas cap. 😬...
  2. No, I do not want to street race…

Well, this happened outside my neighborhood late Friday night and killed power in a 1 mile radius. The speed limit on that 6-lane road is 45mph (it used to be 55mph until accidents started occurring more frequently). I’m not saying they were street racing, but you’d have to be going really fast...
  3. Simple Bump Steer Fix?

FWIW- A buddy and I were talking about this the other day. He rented a Supra and drove it on the Nurburgring back in 2019 and commented about the rear bump steer. Some time later, the owner of the rental company (and Supra) posted this video in his YT channel:
  4. Toyota makes GR cars for track enthusiasts, lol.

FWIW- My buddy tracked TF out of his 991 GT3. During his ownership, he got a new engine, then about a year later, a new PDK transmission. He recently sold his GT3 for what he bought it for and took delivery of a 992 GT3.
  5. 5w40 motor oil

FWIW, this is from the B58 Technical Reference Manual from BMW. It makes no mention of oil weight- just LL-01 or LL-04 approval.
  6. Cruise to SIV via Route 66 from Central TX

I don’t live far from Toyota HQ - got an ETA on when y’all are gonna be there on Sunday? My neighbors own a bar about 15 min north of there, would be a great place for drinks and pizza. My best friends own The Highlander Public House in Wichita Falls. They’re located near the highway. Give’em a...
  7. Oil Change

Oil should be thin as possible, and thick as necessary. For street driving, I would stick with the factory GR 0W-20. For the the track, I would switch to a 0W-40 or 5W-40. In the grand scheme of things, SN Plus or higher is more important.
  8. 2024 GR Supra 45th Anniversary Special Edition Unveiled

Typical Toyota marketing dept at its best. This is like the TRD PRO of Supra - give it special color and appearance package and charge a premium. The side decal is reminiscent of the Lambo Super G.
  9. Experiences with temporary paint protection for road trip

I've used this on my 4Runner to protect the sides from pin striping: https://www.roadwarriorplus.com A buddy of mine used it on his Diablo 6.0 for a canyon run and loved it.
  10. Auto Off Not Working

Battery may be weak for auto start/stop to function so it’s disabled until it is fully charged by the alternator.
  11. Official A90 Supra life cycle thread: updates, new variants, 2026 final model year?

Not every consumer has a garage. And crash testing is more involved in financial and other resources from Toyota & BMW, than slapping on a rollbar and calling it day.
  12. Official A90 Supra life cycle thread: updates, new variants, 2026 final model year?

I’m not confident for a sport roof because of a couple of things: a) crash testing, b) storage of the roof.
  13. BMW background or just a lover of the supra?

I loved my E46 M3, and sometimes miss it. When I heard that the Supra was a partnership with BMW, I was happy to hear it. A Toyota-backed BMW is a win. I am a fan of BMW engineering and technology, and Toyota reliability.
  14. Toyota "Preparing" Hotter Supra GRMN, Says Chief Engineer

    I agree: https://bimmerlife.com/2022/04/22/bmw-b58-inline-six-receives-technical-update/
  15. Has anyone had their brake fluid changed by Toyota?

I used a Motive Power Bleeder to do brake flushes on my E46 M3, but that was 15 years ago. Made it an easy 1-person job that didn’t require a second person to pump brakes. To get the fluid out of the ABS, you’d have flush the brakes, then drive and engage the ABS pump, then flush the brakes...
  16. 2020 Supra dealership|throttle body & mass airflow cleaning & evaporator core system service?($379.9!)

That is interesting to know and TIL. I would have thought boost would be regulated with turbo wastegate. Thanks for the info.

Don’t need to and have no desire to spend the time & effort jacking with my mkv when the linked article explains what Valvetronic is and how it works. The video even reiterates the throttle body is a fail safe and the blade is open. What’s your source that proves otherwise?
  18. 2020 Supra dealership|throttle body & mass airflow cleaning & evaporator core system service?($379.9!)

Valvetronic-equipped engines rely on the amount of valve lift for load control, rather than a butterfly valve in the intake tract. In other words, in normal driving, the ā€œgas pedalā€ controls the Valvetronic hardware rather than the throttle plate...
  19. 2020 Supra dealership|throttle body & mass airflow cleaning & evaporator core system service?($379.9!)

BMW recommends brake fluid flush every 24 months, because brake fluid is hygroscopic. It’s also a catch-all if you’re hard on the brakes, and boil the fluid. The Germans like to have a maintenance schedule that keeps their vehicles in tip-top operating shape.
