Fascinating and super informational read thanks. Good to know that if the Supra really does get the M3-M4 inline turbo engine it'll at least be the best 6 cylinder layout possible.
My only experience with an inline 6 was testing a 328i back in like 2007 before they went turbo. The engine...
I want at least shift lights on the HUD display. Makes the most sense there since you don't have to take your eyes off the road where you need it most when you're actually accelerating to redline. Much better placement than on steering wheel or on the tach.
That's what I hope too. Toyota needs to put their fingerprints all over this engine or the Supra will be stigmatized as just a Toyota shell with a BMW M3/M4 engine and BMW CF platform underneath, even if that engine and platform are awesome
Always fun to see how talented graphics artists are and how little digital graphics abilities I have with my little copy of photoshop :)

Definitely not the joint Toyota-BMW platform that the MKV will be built on, but interesting to see confirmation that it also uses carbon fiber construction, just not full CF. Sounds like the weight load...
I actually like its front end design more than the M4. It's too bad it was built on a combination of existing chassis rather than getting its own ground up platform. Thank goodness the Supra will not suffer from this self-defeating engineering approach.
Damn I was way off, thanks for the stats guys. That's so few! Not even 2,000 units most of the last few years.
What a difference that was from the mi-late 80s. Any chance Toyota could be looking to sell that many a year again? Or not way cuz the Supra has forever moved upmarket since the...
The Nismo Z usually has the same engine as the regular Z model though no? So the regular Z would have to have the Q60's engine too. I've read more rumors that the next Z is downsizing both in physical size and engine (to a turbo 4 cylinder).
One reason would be because carbon fiber is still relatively expensive so why bother sticking it in a Camry when its drivers wouldn't know CF if their toilets were made out of it. But years down the line if/when carbon fiber costs approach that of aluminum or steel then yea no reason not to use...
Doesn't even have to be exotic level model to have the same effect for Toyota. Even a solid sports car that sells in significant volume can have a positive image effect for the entire brand. C7 Corvette is such an example. It's not exactly exotic level in price, image, or volume but it's given...
@kamran good points. Jalopnik had the same points about the NSX reveal and how by the time it came it had already lost steam. - http://jalopnik.com/acura-botched-every-single-aspect-of-the-nsx-launch-1679489073
Hope Toyota realizes that there is such a thing as too much/long for teasing and...
Thought this was going to be vaporware but impressive to see Chevy actually pull it off. Extremely early for a mule tho? C7 only available starting last year.
