Good question - not according to Wikipedia. Would it be feasible for Toyota to take the block from say a B58 and do a NA build from it?
Another point here - even if there is an NA version that goes to production, that doesn't mean we'll see it in North America necessarily - there has been...
Great for those of us not looking for a mini-supercar, but a reasonable upgrade from the GT 86.
Not exactly news though: this was covered in the Forbes Tada interview article of March 20:
"The car you see here looks radical and racy because it’s covered in racing aeroparts. But the road-going...
Or the weight. GT3 class cars are hundreds of pounds lighter than production.
Consider:
Porsche 911 GT3 Cup car: 2645 lbs.
Porsche 911 (base model): 3153 lbs.
Difference: 508 lbs.
Toyota's produced some real groaners lately from their styling studios (e.g. see 2 trims of the hideous new dental-dammed Avalon below - :puke:). They need to do a much better job sweating the details on the Supra.
Meh, not a fan of the sharp-angled speedometer and tach layout in that display. I see why they have gone for that shape as it echoes shapes seen elsewhere in the cabin, but round dials just look classier in everything short of a Lambo.
Gross HP is not the best comparison metric, it's misleading as it doesn't take vehicle weight into account. If the Supra does come in at ~2900lbs and 350hp, it's relative weight/power ratio will be respectable. And being several hundred pounds lighter than most of its competitors will give it a...
That's quite a lot of front overhang for a RWD car this size, four inches less would have looked better. Maybe a few less at the back as well. Or they should have gone with a longer wheelbase for this body length. The long overhangs give the car a slightly dated look.
I like your list as requirements for the new car, but from what we know already, the "practical" bit is history - the car is smaller than the MkIV, and in photos the hatch storage looks to be no better than that of the 370Z.
Some may feel that at 330-350 hp the high-powered aspect will be...
Was thinking 370Z but don't want an orphaned car (per above news). Upcoming refreshed MX-5 with its 17% horsepower jump may be a go if Supra is too Corvette-like and expensive.
^ Probably. There was a piece some time ago on Jalopnik or TTAC about why those black borders are needed from a manufacturing standpoint, but why do they have to be so much bigger for the back windows? Fail.
