Let me take a stab at trying to answer your question...
1. NASCAR is not a racing series that the typical Supra demographic is particularly interested in.
2. The Supra was never ever known for it's NA V8 power... and that's all stock car racing has ever been about.
Premiere car? Best of the best? The Supra never has been, nor ever will be Toyota's flagship vehicle. Maybe to us sports car guys it feels that way, but that doesn't make it so. You have to look at the Toyota Century or Lexus LS for their "premiere car".
No it won't. Even if the MKV is a sales hit, they probably won't sell 200K of them to the US market during it's entire production life. Now if they goofed up with the Corolla or Camry... that's a whole different story.
:)
I've based the premise of my post on the parts drawings that were leaked on realoem.com. There is no proper external exhaust manifold on the A90's variant of the B58 engine.
Yes, the exhaust makes a tortuous path through the head (which is of course water-cooled), but that's not the same...
Yes. The intake manifold features an integrated air-to-water intercooler. Not my first choice. However, the relatively-high (yet stable) temperature of the intake-charge makes for easier OEM tuning.
I'm not sure where you got the idea that the exhaust manifold was water-cooled. Maybe it's...
I tend to concur. I've seen zero evidence that a Z35 is in the works. Sales on the Z34 are a bit too soft to justify it. But for the sake of discussion, if they did green light a Z35 this very afternoon... you wouldn't see it hit showrooms until 2024.
A Faro arm? Very nice! Part of my gig is overseeing a small rapid prototyping shop and laboratory, and I'd love to lay my grubby paws on one of those. We have a decent selection of equipment, but most of it's pretty old school. Bridgeport mills, lathes, old CNCs that read their g-code from 3.5"...
Good on you!
When I was a young engineer, I planned to do the exact same thing. Even came close on a few occasions. The problem was that every time I arrived at a product that possessed the functionality, fit, and finish that I was willing to put my name on... I had designed something that also...
Wheels to start with, then... wait.
On an all-new platform like the A90, the first round of aftermarket parts tend to fall into 3 main categories:
1. Relatively expensive and minimally effective factory parts (TRD/NISMO etc)
2. Poorly engineered, rushed to market, parts
3. Ebay knock-offs of the...
No, it just means the US will get the same quiet intake as the rest of the world. The Helmholtz resonator on the airbox looks like they're trying to dampen a high frequency whine. My guess is that you really won't be hearing the turbo spool in this car.
The resonance chamber on that airbox looks more in line with a Euro or Aussie spec car. US market cars tend to have lower NVH standards for induction noise, so I wouldn't be surprised if US bound cars end up with a different unit.
