Has anyone gotten Toyota to use the alternative weight of 0w30 in their Supra as part of ToyotaCare or paid-oil change? Alternatively does anyone know if ToyotaCare prevents the tech from using an alternative oil weight?
Thank you! Pretty sure we watched the same video where they showed the pad ratings for front and rear. Seems like there are good options out there and I was over-thinking the warnings of not for street use.
I had a set of those awful Hawk HP+ pads in a prior car (which aren't even track pads) but despite warnings from 6 people who had that pad before and complained about noise, I didn't listen and boy was that pad LOUD all of the time...super annoying. On the street everyone would turn heads...
That's all good to know. Not in love with freight train brake noises but I guess they'll hear me coming!
Most of the track pads have the big disclaimers, "not for street use", and list operating temps that start at above 100C. The R8 seemed to have a good temp range and will likely have enough...
I've appreciated the knowledge shared by members on this forum about brake pads within threads covering other topics.
My local tracks are Sonoma Raceway, Laguna Seca, Thunderhill. I have attended 5 HPDE events between a BRZ and Golf R. I care about lap times as a measure of improvement, but I'm...
Amazing, thanks so much Tim! This is very comprehensive. Kind of funny (but understandable) that the FLCAs will cause clearance issues requiring new endlinks haha.
Unfortunately end of the month is too soon, I won't have completed my break-in miles before then. I'm waitlisted for April Laguna...
hey Tim - you're running the two tracks that are local to me that I have gone to as well. Would you mind sharing the fluids and pads you've swapped to (if you like them?). I'm also thinking after my first day at Laguna I'll be wanting the SPL LCAs for the front camber (not sure if other...
I echo most of the comments made here, and agree YMMV depending on where you live/drive. I made a drive from SF to Pleasanton yesterday (50 minute drive) in normal mode (still not sure where people are finding comfort cause there's nothing in the menu for 'comfort' - the settings you seeing the...
On some recent models of iPhone, the stabilization shake was improved via updated iOS versions, however, you're always going to be better off using an actual action camera such as a GoPro. HLT works with a connected gopro to start/stop recording as well as sync the metadata for you to later...
It's interesting they explicitly ask for 'racetracks'. Not sure I'd answer truthfully or not to that question...
Since there's no screenshot/graphical representation in our owners manual, can someone confirm that the extremes of bar shows the oil level of the car at either above max (e.g...
I use the compatible external GPS unit as I find it to be much more accurate especially for turns. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00E65TNYE/
That said, it's not necessary as long as you're not hoping to have super accurate lap-times as well as more specific speed/location overlay data.
It's...
HLT has not been a set it and forget it experience for me. I've found I need to be very patient and perform all the steps correctly if I want to ensure data and video is captured and be able to export video with data/telemetry overlay afterwards (without jumping through hoops to re-sync video &...
