  1. Better Solution for an Intake Duct

Here are some photos of the final product. Took a while to get the plastic duct looking good. It is made with heat and UV resistant ASA. I'm pretty happy with the finish, but there are still some minor surface imperfections. The satin finish on the carbon part is pretty flawless. I'll take some...
  2. Better Solution for an Intake Duct

Thanks for links, I will be writing step-by-step instructions for the AT owners who needs recoding. Great info!
  3. Better Solution for an Intake Duct

If you have a MT there is nothing to remove. It is empty behind the bumper and all functionality is retained. There is one minor part that needs to be trimmed, but that's on a cheap plastic part that doesn't even show. If you have a AT with drivers assist, the front radar is removed and you...
  4. Better Solution for an Intake Duct

Sorry for the delay in updates. I am spending way too much time trying to get the inner duct surface quality acceptable. The goal was to have both the inner and outer surface of the ducts to have a nice smooth finish. Usually only the inner OR outer can be smooth when making carbon parts, but...
  5. Better Solution for an Intake Duct

Here is some progress pics. These are finished in satin clear. The tabs came out pretty nice.
  6. Better Solution for an Intake Duct

If I end up selling this thing, it won’t cost that much more than Velossa Tech and other offerings, and it will be made with proper materials. I’m not here trying to make boat loads of money, I’m just sharing with the community and seeing what happens. Everything out there now is overpriced and...
  7. Better Solution for an Intake Duct

The Velossa Tech, if you look at the outlet, all it does is direct air 90 degrees to the general area. They are also just selling a hobbyist grade 3D printed part for almost $600. You’d need to cut a hole in the big (and probably difficult or expensive to replace) fan shroud. My design rams air...
  8. Better Solution for an Intake Duct

Made a quick video of how it installs onto the car. Since everyone wants the stealth/oem+ look, I’ll make the end product (both the duct and the exterior trim) with non-glossy satin carbon.
  9. Better Solution for an Intake Duct

Absolutely. Everyone has their preferences. I mentioned kevlar because it has been used in the past for intakes and ducting. So thats where the idea came from. It looks like most people want the oem look. Great to have that feedback.
  10. Better Solution for an Intake Duct

Planning on a making a custom tow hook with the same looking surround. Will definitely make it more symmetrical.
  11. Better Solution for an Intake Duct

I made an earlier 3D printed prototype using matte black filament. Looks a little too subtle IMO.
  12. Better Solution for an Intake Duct

Thanks man! The end product won't be 3D printed. The idea is to make it out of prepreg carbon fiber. 3D printing is amazing for prototyping, but I want a professional high end part. I am still working on the mold. The main part is done, next to do are the clips. The mold is solid CNC machined...
  13. Better Solution for an Intake Duct

It should not affect parking sensors. I will be experimenting with my friend’s AT and hopefully come up with an easy recoding solution.
  14. Better Solution for an Intake Duct

Long time lurker here, I haven't had anything useful to contribute here in the past, but I felt like I should share this with the community. I have been working on this cold ram air duct. There are a lot of other solutions out there, but none of them seem very well thought out. I don't want to...
