LOL at the thought of BMW M division giving up one of their "S" motors, let alone their newest and greatest 6, for Toyota to put in their car. Not happening, keep wishing guys...
On the F22(2 series) and F30(3 series) you CANNOT set it to default to anything other then comfort mode. I guess BMW set it up this way so they get CAFE points from the NHTSA from what I read. Not sure if that has changed with the introduction of the G-series(5/7)/F90(M5) or the new M2C. I doubt...
More rigid than Z4 is probably just marketing, because of course it will be more rigid, that's common sense. I have always thought that by more focused sports car they would be referring to the tuning of the suspension and engine, which can totally change the feel of the car compared to the Z4...
Not a water-cooled exhaust manifold, which VW brought out in 2013, which I'm guessing is why he referenced them.
Benefits; allows engine to get up to operating temps quickly, thus reduced engine wear and better economy, reduces exhaust temps which extend the life of cat converters, and better...
There is a 271lb difference between Coupe and convertible versions of the 2 series of the same engine/model. So I would def say there is room to make It to 3200 or less for the Supra. A lot more bracing and such is required for a convertible chassis to give it the rigidity of a coupe chassis...
Seeing as a base 230i AT weighs 3411 and a base 240i AT weighs 3519 = 110 lbs between 4 and 6 cylinder versions.
Z4 M40i should be about 3400 lbs.
Supra should be less (3200 or so) since it doesn't need to be bulked up and have all the extra bracing that a convertible will need.
Stolen from the Z4 details thread.
This is probably why we are seeing a difference in head details in the pics between the new Z4/Supra B58 and previous B58's.
Who noticed the part where it says water-cooled exhaust manifold integrated into the cylinder head for the 6cyl(B58?) ? This is probably why the Z4/Supra B58 head looks different from previous B58 versions.
Looks similar to the caliper on the rear of my 335i, which is much heavier. I have no issues at the track with Motul rbf 600 fluid and street/track pads. As said, it's mainly about putting in better fluid and pads to not worry about fade.
