To the OP, I don't know if you are one to leave your cars untouched, but just be aware, as you doubtless are, that supercar acceleration is simply a tune away. I see you are in California so you're theoretically limited to 91 octane. My first tune was 91 and it was a significant improvement over...
Last week I installed my CG Precision 5 inch catted downpipe. After driving for a few days to let my Twisted Tuning e50 tune adapt I did a datalog and ran it through the quarter. My time stunk due to poor launch but I was very happy with my 124 mph trap speed.
I don't see what the big deal is about mixing fuels, especially given the fact that the car tells us exactly how much fuel is in the tank. I run an e50 tune. It just means I have to pump twice. 51% E85 and 59% E10. E85 around here is $1.85.
What does Ecutek offer that MHD does not? In the end it seems like power and torque come down to boost+fuel+timing. I'm currently running an MHD e50 tune and driveability could not be better. Am I somehow missing out on untapped power only accessible to Ecutek?
This morning I was stopped at a light on a large, three lane 50 mph suburban street. I notice the guy behind me in an AMG SUV had his eyes in his lap as he texted away. I took off briskly and was about 100 yards ahead of traffic. Suddenly the AMG roars past me doing 100+. black smoke spewing...
I drove Mustangs for 15 years prior to getting my Supra. There is a forum on svtperformance.com entitled "the Distillery", assuming you catch the drift, with 14.035 posts. 99.9% of them are positive.
One of the scenarios put forth is that because of ethanol's superior cleaning properties, if e85 is introduced into a fuel system that has run for years on pump gas it may do too good a job of cleaning the deposits that have built up and clog the injectors. I tuned my Shelby early on for e85 and...
Yesterday I celebrated my 67th birthday, so it's safe to say the guy in the Tesla was half my age as evidenced by his weaving in and out of traffic and obviously not being shy about exploiting the performance his car had. I have no doubt he matted the accelerator when the light turned green.
Well, obviously you need a tune. I'm running an e50 tune. Since no one sells e50 the only way to get it is to blend e85 with normal e10 which is a simple process. The gain is huge over 91.
It is interesting to gauge how restrictive a stock intake is by hooking up a manometer between the filter and the throttle body and measuring the amount of pressure drop which is, essentially, negative boost. I've done this on numerous vehicles. On my GT350 it was close to negligible, about 11"...
I agree. The stock air box has flow diverters which don't appear to be there for looks. I did install an HKS panel filter which showed a modest gain on a dyno from someone who is not selling the part which is always a plus.
