Most of the ones that are shelling out that kind of money are people that want to be the first on the block with the car to show it off or companies that need the car for R&D purposes.
That's my buddy Victor's Supra. His shop Induction Performance is currently getting it tuned today and taking it back out there with drag radials. I'm curious to see what kind of power they will get out of this car
BMW isn't really known for having a reliable engines, what makes everyone think this is going to be any different? I'm optimistic, but when you see BMW guys throwing 2JZs and V160s in their cars you tend to second guess yourself. Regardless, I am very excited to see this car in person, test...
This car definitely has people talking, I'll give it that. I really want to see one in person and would like to own one down the road, but not for $85K. I would buy an LC500 at that point
I wouldn't be so sure about that. Have you seen the mark-ups on these cars? You can buy the LC500 for about the same price as the new Supra. Here in Alaska, where sports cars can be driven 3-4 months tops, they have a $25K mark-up! I called to inquire and the grand total after their "dealer"...
Well up here in Alaska they have 3 new Supras inbound. Two of the three have been spoken for and the only one available is in Nitro Yellow. The cars will be here in 2 weeks and they have a dealer markup of $25K! Bringing the total of the car to $82K
Not really... You are comparing a $100k Lexus luxury car to a $50K Toyota entry level sports car. Toyota predicted selling 400 LC's per month, but fell way short only selling 165 per month. With the low production numbers, high price tag and certain clientele they are catering to, I cant see the...
I'm 34 as well and I think that we are the target demographic for this car. Another big thing is that even when you could purchase a Supra in the 20-30k range a lot of people just don't have that kind of cash laying around and very few banks will finance a car that old. I was lucky enough to...
I think it's selling to the younger new age supra crowd and people who unfortunately were not able to purchase a MKIV in the new/used market after it stopped being produced. The Supra name has been iconic for a long time. For me, it was growing up and watching videos of it destroying everything...
In all honesty it should have been named the new Celica or like how FasTTurbo said the true GT-86/FRS. I honestly try to get excited about this car, but the more I think about it the more annoyed I get about it. I hated the GT-R when it came out and I'm still not a huge fan, but have warmed up...
All these people were so excited to hear a review from Chris Harris because he was going to blunt and honest. Now that it's out and doesn't please them they are all instantly hating on the guy
The car was already popular before that damn movie. I remember watching videos as a kid of it destroying Ferraris, Lambo's... pretty much everything it met on the road. This was also when 700hp was the norm for these cars. The movie did help, but to say the car wouldn't be where it is today...
That is still a legitimate question... BMW will know how to work on the car better than a Toyota tech who is just seeing this engine for the first time.
Also, WE (forum guys) have known for years because we have been following the car. The other 99% of the general public are clueless. I cant...
Legit question... where do I take this car to get serviced, BMW or Toyota?
I think this car will sell well, but not as well as Toyota thinks. Will probably have good numbers the first and second year and then will dwindle down. Once the general public realizes this car is 95% BMW, it will take...
I would love to see them start reproducing all the Supra parts, but we will probably get little things here and there. We can all hope for dash panels, tachometers, floor mats, 3rd gears, ect... Shit, lets get Getrag in on this and reproduce the V160's as well!!
