Following up with the other supra owner. Today he noticed the leak again. This time it wasn’t as bad as the previous time, but still a leak at the drain plug.

It is possible, but only the manufacturer would know if it was overfilled as I haven’t drained or refilled it. I’ll keep this updated... it looks like other people with this issue have said it was resolved by replacing the drain plug, so that’s comforting

As a former owner of multiple BMWs, my answer is that I wont.

I spoke with the dealership yesterday, so far their only solution is to replace the drain plug (which they have to source because apparently there wasn't a Toyota part number for it yet). I'll report back the day after it's plugged (Wednesday), and a week after to share if it worked or not.

I just tell people that Toyota built a better BMW. I definitely don’t take the whole BMW engine/parts as offensive at all, even if that’s the intent.

This has happened to me also, between 200 - 1000 mile mark i've had it occur maybe 3 times. I'm at 2600 miles weeks later and it hasnt happened sense. I'm curious to know more about what it was tbh.
