No offense. But this is the internet and by saying you are a retired mechanical engineer bears no weight without any proof. Personally by having to resort to this to back your statements of opinion, I question the credentials further as you are not able to support your statement with clear...
Aluminium is lighter than steel. Internal manifold is aluminium alloy of the engine block, vs the steel of the exhaust manifold.
As mentioned, I can't be sure about the flow, since to me it purely depends on the piping design of the internal manifold vs the steel manifold. Same size connections...
I was talking about mechanical and manufacturing design being better and more efficient (not exhaust flow, which is not clear to me in stock form).
- better fuel consumption (faster engine warm up)
- less weight, aluminium vs steel.
- cheaper, exhaust manifold connecting 6 ports to turbo not...
I am quite sure the KW coilovers only has an electronic damper canceler when I had a look at it. I.e. just to trick the car so that error messages won't come up for the suspension.
Is there any hope an adjustable aftermarket coilover that would integrate the functionality for the Supra's adaptive suspension (and hopefully customise how it works). Has this ever been done for any other car? I mean rather than just using a electronic dampening canceler to trick the signal?
It is a bit of both I think. The B58d has a new cooling system, steel exhaust manifold, higher pressure fuel injection system and lower compression ratio, this should allow the boost to be dialed up for stock without increasing the risk of knocking. So hardware changes allowing a higher tuned...
No... I think you may have lost track of the conversation. My point is no phasing out is occurring because B58c and B58d are developed simultaneously from the TĂś1 update. Neither is old or new relative to each other. Both are successors to the B58M0.
The thread:
you hypothesized that the "old"...
2020 Supra's B58c is similar to B58M1, telltale signs are the internal exhaust manifold and hp rating. 2021 Supra's B58d is similar to the B58O1, telltale sign is hp rating, compression ratio and the fact it is in the Z4 M40i. As previously mentioned both of these were part of the same TĂś1...
That is incorrect and misleading speculation. Both engines were developed at the same time by BMW and were part of the TĂś1 update. There is no old one and new one. They are just used in different applications. For example the 840i uses a similar engine and is newer than the Z4 M40i...
Maybe it is the English, in Australia, when we refer to engine blocks we mean the huge cast housing that holds the cylinders and everything else is mounted on it. The 2020 Supra's engine block does not support a 6 port exhaust manifold. Perhaps there is a different name for it in the US.
I think you have to look at the engine block to understand. You can't use the 6 port manifold in the 2020 supra unless you do an engine swap.
Found a picture... See how the turbo is connected directly to the engine block. Notice how unlike normal i6 engines, you don't have a port for each...
That feeling is unwarranted though as no one knows the price. Most (including myself) expect a significant increase. You seem to be one of few who expects the price to remain the same.
It sounds like the protector changed the lcd viewing angle of the screen. This is normal for screen protectors and usually considered a good thing for phones (which is what most screen protectors are designed for), as it acts like a privacy filter so other people don't see whats's on your phone...
There is no point with the 6 port manifold. B58c has a sort of inbuilt (into engine block) manifold to 2 ports, so both ports can connect directly to the twin scroll turbo. It is actually the better more efficient design.
The new motor changes this side of the engine block to the traditional...
Sounds like quite a few owners are disappointed by the upgrade... But to put things into perspective, the current B58C is similar to the B58M1 and B58d similar to the B58O1. The latter of which are generally in more expensive BMW cars. Pretty sure there will be a significant price rise will be...
I am interested to see how it looks to see how matte Xpel looks compared to Suntek on the factory paint. At least another week for mine to be done though. Good luck with the stretch, I heard that if they do it right and are able to control it, and stretch just the flat centre section, it should...
What they mean is that they do not have the large size PPF so they will have to "stretch" it to fit over the large bonnet (otherwise there will be a seam line). I know Suntek comes in 72" but most of the other brands do not provide it in that size in matte yet. Also, you do not have to wrap the...
