I bought a chinesium caliper compression tool kit on Amazon and it works fine on my '24. It uses a disk with pins that rotates the piston while compressing it. I leave the e-brake disengaged and no special modes or other tools, etc...
On a good tire (200ish TW or better) and stock power, fuel starve is very real at 1/2 tank or less. For instance a long right sweeper like between T13 to T14 at CMP, I've hit fuel starve/limp mode multiple times, ruining potential PBs.. The only other real weak point with stock hardware is low...
Conti ECF for true endurance with reasonable pace and they work ok in the wet in my experience. I'm also a huge fan of Supercar 3 for a dual duty tire as well, but I've heard (not experienced) they're not so great in the wet. RE71RS for best pace and wet performance but less endurance.
On the Supra I need to step up from the Club Racers and the 999 are on the list as an option. I may just hit the easy button and do Cobalt, but 999 sound interesting and the price is right. Are they noisy in the street?
SR11 is still a sintered iron compound, but lower Mu than 21. I know...
They work well if you like a high Mu pad but the cons outweigh the pros, IMO. They start to feel crunchy when they get a lot of heat in them and they absolutely obliterate rotors. Not to mention wayyyy overpriced as well. To me, they are pretty similar to DTC-70 at a much higher cost...
If this is in reference to Cobalt pads, I can tell you the XR1/XR2 combo works exceptionally well on a 3700lb, 650+ HP car. I tried them per Coby Shield's recommendation and now it's all I run on my C7Z/AP brakes. It is the only pad I have not been able to fade in the slightest, on tracks...
If you're using a GoPro, set the EV comp to -2. That eliminated the outside image from being totally blown out for me without any other hacks or tricks.
Waste of time and money to swap perfectly good rotors. Just send it.. You'll have a session or 2 of shudder and will go away once you power through. Even my 2nd set of PMU were grumpy for a session or so on the same rotors as the first set. Bedding issues aside, I've found these pads to be...
So many good tires so IMO it comes down to which aspect is the priority. I've been really impressed with the Supercar 3 for a dual duty tire that has longevity and can run at a decent pace. I've got 8 hard days on this set and they've been incredibly consistent on pace; in fact managed a PB...
You'll quickly find you'll need more negative camber up front, so hardware will be required -- camber plants, FLCA, etc..
Keep an eye on the outside shoulder on the front 4s. I've shredded a bunch of them on track.
PMU Club Racer front pad wear after 2.5 days at VIR and 2 days at CMP. They looked practically new after VIR, but 2 hard days at CMP cooked them pretty good. The shims were cooked, crusty and warped and separated from the backing plate. They wore about 5mm so ~50%. I went ahead and threw on...
At CMP in December, I snagged the Supra from my wife for a session and managed a new PB of 1:43.7 vs 1:45.0. I was pretty consistently in the 43s most of the session, so stoked on that. The only changes from the 45.0 were PMU pads up front and better weather. And this was late day 7 and...
FLCA alone will still only get so much. With the Verkline and no other changes I could only -2.8ish° before running out of other adjustment. I think we ran out of the thread on the tie rod ends, IIRC but it's been a minute.
No sense in tossing perfectly good rotors for a pad change, IMO. If/when they start to shudder on track, just power through and it will get better. A rough session or 2 but multiple days/sessions later and zero issues since.
To follow up, I regrettably I had a similar experience with these tires on my C7Z. For me they were pretty quick and consistent for 2 days / 8 sessions at VIR. As quick as same size SC3R which was encouraging. Last weekend I closed out my season at CMP and was excited to see how they...
I haven't run the DTC on my Supra but they will definitely have a lot more initial bite. PMU for me on a brake-heavy track are consistent and easy to modulate.
My season wrapped on Saturday and I did just under 30 days this year compared to 40ish last year. That's spread across a few cars. This year I tried to focus more on quality vs quantity, meaning I took a brief hiatus during most of the stank summer heat. Hoping to get at least 20+ in 2025 but...
