Not sure how well grill cloth will work as it's fairly dense..There is quite a bit of air pressure released during the low bass notes and you want to make it as least restrictive as possible...
With respect to port length, I wouldn't go any longer (and actually I would prefer a bit shorter)...
@30MilesOffshore installed this and could probably answer...There are a few others on our FB groups that have this installed and claim it fixed the problem....
Personally, I've never driven any of my cars with the windows down while cruising over 50~60 mph...
Here, in IMO, is the simplest and most inexpensive solution I've seen to date that others have done...
I was waiting for a solution as simple as this rather than having to cover the entire area...All the current options are over designed and way over priced...

Had no issues installing mine and didn't need to trim rear standoffs....Mine are still holding up very well 4 months later...This is one of the first mods I did after purchase... Since install I don't get splash ups and have not had any rock...
I would definitely consider doing this before installing a direct replacement subwoofer or your still going to be left with the same vibrational noise distortions and rattles...
I think what you'll find is that after doing this the OE Harmon Kardon speakers are actually quite decent...
The clips hold fairly well but not difficult at all to remove...Just use a plastic trim tool to pry upwards around the grill...same goes for rear cover...
Here is another quick tip for eliminating subwoofer grill rattle / vibrations...I did this awhile ago and thought it might be helpful to post while we're on this topic....
Apply drops of flexible silicone adhesive between grill insert plate and grill cover...

hmmm interesting......After removing ASD (low freq faux engine noise) my bass was somewhat clearer and less distorted but I didn't experience greater rattling over what I already had....Perhaps removing the low freq faux noise overlay (which certainly cleans up the bass) simply revealed the...
