After you remove the screws and front clips you simply need to pull up on the panel to release the clips...don't be afraid, they won't break...
Pro Tip: you need to pull or peel back the upper rubber hatch gasket that goes over the top of the panel or you won't be able to pull up properly to...

Yea I get it...I've used Bimmercode extensively over the past 8 months and have made numerous changes...what I don't like after programming is having to go back and reset all my fav settings....LOL
But for those that simply want to disable ASD and don't want to code this is a cheap easy...

I've done both ways and one is really not that much more difficult or time consuming than the other....The biggest difference is disconnecting the ASD plug is free and doesn't require purchase of Bimmercode and OBDII module....
Actually 1/2" sheets are preferred for this application as you'll want to line the walls of the enclosure and be careful not pack the enclosure as this could reduce overall volume...that said, you could try packing loosely to see how this effects the bass response....
Another option to consider in disabling the Active Sound Design (ASD), that doesn't require having to recode the ASD module using Bimmercode, is to simply unplug the ASD module...This only takes 15~20 min to remove 2 panels, unplug the ASD module, and reinstall panels...And best of all...It's...
ASD isn't connected to your exhaust system and does not change external exhaust sound in any way...ASD is simply an electrical sound generator which overlays a faux engine sound on top of the audio signal inside the cabin...

Just simply remove the rear panel and re-evaluate the sound quality...Now this won't completely eliminate all the vibrations but you should hear a noticeable improvement in reducing bass vibrations and improving sound quality which should give you some confidence that the sound quality...
